Was suprised how big Gandia was, it was a perfect base for us

Gandia is a cosmopolitan busy working town with a slightly up market feel to it. The old town is the place to be - lots of cafes, shops etc. The new town - near the beach - is pretty grim, full of tacky bars and really aimed at the lower end of the mass tourist market.

We went to Gandia as it was out of Valencia but close enough to commute to for a wedding. we were up the hill at La Drova 1.5 kms before Barx. It was a beautiful picturesque mountain setting and a quiet village to take our 7 month old son. We had a ability to spend time with other friends at the georgous beaches but also have nightly outdoor BBQ's. We felt revived and refreshed and welcolmed having come from NZ. Mark Rahman
