Glyfada - the resort - has good beaches that charge an admission fee, and some not so good ones which are free. There is a tram that goes along the entire coast as far as Pireas and there are plenty of beaches to choose from at practically every stop. There are also plenty of buses going south of Glyfada with good resorts. There are lots of shops, from M&S to Zara etc., and nice cafès and restaurants. For us coming from Ireland the prices were very reasonable, but that might be different if you come from somewhere else. We found Glyfada ideal for a mixture of beach and culture holiday.
