Travel Reviews : Goa

A sensory experience

We went on holiday to Goa last November. We stayed in the Parees Blossom Hotel just off the Baga Road. The weather was just perfect - hot and sunny every day.

There was not much nightlife (ie music) although there are a few discos in the hills. There ia an abundance of restaurants apart from the beach shacks (be choosy when eating in these, go for word of mouth).

The shopping is good and you can barter for that bargain. You can get almost any item of clothing made in the tailor shops from leather coats down to work shirts.

Goa is an experience you should try if only once, as you will not forget it...the smells (spices and cooking), the red dusty roads and the cows and animals in the streets.

The people are very friendly, but bear in mind the poverty in the streets.

There are childrens charities here in England (Children Walking Tall) if you want to take things out there for the street kids, who will help organise it.

I will be going back, it is a beautiful place.

So good we're going back

What a wonderful country. My wife and I stayed two weeks at Baga Beach in Goa. I wish it had been two years.

The place, the people, the culture - where else in the world can you sunbathe on the beach next to a cow?

We can't wait to go back and have already booked.

Vibrant and educational

Going to Goa was wonderful. It was colourful, vibrant, friendly and exciting.

The people were so gentle and kind, the weather was perfect and the food a delight.

Leave your emotional baggage at home and pack for an experience of educational proportions.

Escape south for seclusion

I have been to Goa twice and it was the best holiday experience I have ever had.

The middle part (Baga, Calangute) is very lively, but is becoming very touristy. So for a bit of peace and quiet, go south for a few nights at one of the more secluded resorts, such as Palolem.

Here, you can stay in a beach hut with very basic facilities for around £2 per night per hut.

It has a very relaxing atmosphere, and the night sky is amazing. I would recommend Goa to young singles or couples - there's partying, shopping, eating out and meeting the extremely friendly locals. These should be your main goals for this holiday.

It's very cheap, but do barter, as you can be tricked into paying as much as 10 times the real cost. But always with a smile.

Outstanding hotel service

The service in the Goa Marriot hotel was outstanding. They catered for our every need.

The food was excellent and the food hygiene was second to none. The daily room service was of exceptional quality and the entertainment was also excellent.

We would certainly go back and recomend it to anyone.

Cheap and friendly

Candolim in Goa was an absolutely fabulous place. Everything was so cheap from meals to clothes and jewellery.

The beaches aren't overcrowded and very clean. Everyone is so friendly there.

We couldn't fault anything at all in the three weeks we were there. It was fantastic.

Eat and drink like Royalty in Goa

We have just returned from a 14-night vacation to Baga Beach resort in the North of Goa.

It cost £500 for a two-star hotel in the centre of Baga at the end of March close to the beach and the main nightlife.

My sister and I agree that with all the travelling we have ever done, that the Goans are probably the friendliest people we have met.

We were happy to discover that Baga was still undeveloped with rustic beach shacks, traditional houses and roaming cows along the beach and streets.

A large beer was about £1, with a Goan curry, rice and a naan all for under £1.50. Seafood was superb, with a fresh bbq lobster only costing a tenner! You can eat, drink and live like a King or Queen in Goa.

Everyone we met were all very like-minded people who enjoy an easy, laid-back life, enjoy meeting new people and for the younger ones, like my sis and I, partying till sunrise over more than eight times in two weeks!!

Definitely worth visiting is Palolem, a two hours' drive south. A tenner for a two hour cab drive will take you to the most perfect paradise island! Beach shacks can be hired on the day you arrive for £4 per night.

We will definitely be back to Goa next year.

Villas are recommended

After a long haul flight and travel over India, we ended up in Goa. We stayed at a truly wonderful hotel in Anjuna.

It was called the Laguna Anjuna and we had a perfect holidays there. All the rooms were different and its pool is something else.

Forget high-rise hotels, this is all little villa-type rooms. Highly recommended.

Slow and easy

My husband and I visit Goa every winter from November to December. It is the most beautiful place to escape the British winter.

The way of life is slow and easy, the weather hot (great for aches/pains), food is very good and very cheap.

We have made loads of friends from all over the world and we recommend to everybody. There's no place quite like it.

Lots to see

My partner and I visited Goa last year in May. We thought Goa was wonderful, the people were wonderful, the food was great and there are lots of things to see.

We are visiting again in October.

Friendly locals and so much to do

Take a trip to Goa. We stay there during the winter, leaving home in November and returning in April.

The weather is gorgeous. Wake up and look out of the window every morning, the sky is blue, and enjoy your breakfast on the beaches.

Goa has fantasic weather, it's cheap, the people are so friendly and there is plenty going on like pubs, clubs and markets.

Go to Goa. Once tried, it's in your blood and you will want to go every year after that.
