Travel Reviews : Governors Beach

Review by steve ward from cheltenham

Governor's Beach has several excellent restaurants - the choice is vast. At the weekend and on Bank Holidays the restaurants are crowded with local people - that's how you really know the food is good!

Review by Pete & Alia Peterson from Doha Qatar

Governors Beach is a great place to relax away from the more crowded tourist areas in Limassol. But come prepared to rent a car rather than rely on taxis which are usually expensive and sometimes not too reliable.

The beach is nice and a great place to bring children. If you rent a car, you will be set for a holiday at Governors Beach where you can have the peace and quiet there or venture to the more active areas of Limassol and Cyprus at your convienence, do some grocery shopping and have a little excitement, but be able to return to the quiet and peaceful setting of Governors Beach and enjoy a sunset on the sea.

Review by Adrian Adams from Wakefield

The owner of Desi-Ray is one of the most helpful people when it comes to making your stay enjoyable, nothing is to much trouble and Avram is always available if you have aproblem that needs some advice, when you arrive for the first time at Desi-Ray the views from the large balcony are breathtaking. If it,s good local food or a BBQ that you want to cook the local fresh fish that is available at the small village of Zygi is amazing and good value for money, so to are the many resteraunts in the area of Governers Beach, the local people in and around Governers Beach and Zygi are very friendly and polite,if you want to visit the larger citys you will need a car but it is so worth while going to this expense to see places like Limmasol.

Review by Angelo Panayiotou from Limassol

I stayed in appartment C2 with a friend that flew in from the UK for a week.

I have a huge list of complaints that I would like to make.

Firstly my friends flight was delayed but they refused to meet us at the arrival time so I had to make special arrangements to meet up with him at more convenient hours to pick up the key despite the fact that it says check in any time on the reservation!

There was auful noise from drilling, and other building work from early in the morning and sometimes past 7 in the evening..on a Sunday!

The electricity was not working properly and everytime we tried to heat the water the power was cut. We tried to tell them about it but he tried to blame us for too much consumption of electricity.

I dont know whatever happened to customer service but there is absolutly no way we would ever be staying in those appartments ever again, we did originally plan to find a place where we could stay in for 3 to 4 weeks a year.

The view and balcony were nice though but it was an auful experience

Review by Elizabeth McKenzie from Chelmsford

Governers Beach is unusual for its grey sand which does get hot in the August midday sun, but we loved the location. We enjoyed walks along the coast line, going for early morning or evening runs on the beach and further, and lots of swimmimg across the bay. In the early morning we could watch crabs on the beach, we could walch what the fishermen were catching. The bay seemed to be popular with locals which is a good recommendation. Tis is not an overdeveloped area and is handy for acess to all sorts of places, we can heartily recommend it.

This is an absolutely fantastic place. It's peaceful with great views. The house has everything you could possibly need. WOW!!!

You could say governors beach was relaxing and tranquil - It is not a very beautiful beach notably because there is a cement factory on the horizon. The water is clear and the sand is fine and black in colour. There are lots of restaurants. The food is good. Because the climate is very warm and sunny and it is generally relaxing and quiet - depending upon when you go -and because it is also quite a friendly place - it is quite nice!

The apartment was very clean, everything worked,it was exactly has it said on the web site, but only when you arrive do you fully appreciate how wonderful this location really is, quite, safe, good restaurants, friendly people and the owner was extremly helpful at all times, you have to go to beleive how relaxing and beautiful this place is, Desi-Ray and Governers beach is truly marvellous, everyone should go and experience its magic.thankyou Adrian & Brenda
