Getting around Most sights can be visited on foot; however, there are buses if you tire of walking uphill. To reach the Alhambra atop La Sabika hill, you can also take the Tren Alhambra, a tourist road train from Plaza Nueva which leaves every half an hour.

Costs Bottle of beer from 80p, a film for your camera £2.50, meal for one with wine £5, a litre of petrol 45p, short taxi ride £5.50. These prices can only provide a rough guide.
Weather The south coast of Spain is one of the hottest regions in Europe. Granada receives little rain, mostly in November and December, and temperatures in December and January range from 9C/49F to 17C/63F. May and October enjoys 15C/59F to 23C/74F; and in July/August it can hot up to 37C/98F, with an average of 30C/86F.

Opening hours Large supermarkets and department stores, Mon-Sat 9am-9pm; other shops and businesses, 9am-2pm and then 4.30/5pm-8pm. Banks, Mon-Fri 8.30am-2pm, generally Saturdays 9am-1pm. Some museums close Sunday and Monday.
Health - Before you go Spain has a reciprocal health agreement with the UK. Make sure you have an EHIC health form, obtainable from the post office.
Health - When you are there Use plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration.

Customs The Spanish attitude towards time is more relaxed than other European countries. Afternoon (tarde) doesn't start until about 4pm and lasts until 9pm, and people dine much later in the evening.
Pets As part of the Pet Travel Scheme, you may bring your pet to and from Spain provided you have the correct documentation. This takes some months to obtain, so see your vet well in advance of your travel dates.
Tipping Service charge is included in restaurants - however, if you want to tip extra, 5% is an appropriate amount, or add change in cafes and bars.
