The main beach in Javea is a lovely sandy beach, very safe for children.
A good destination for a family holiday.
Some lovely restaurants and bars along the front.

Javea is a lovely unspoilt part of the costa blanca. we have been coming here since my sister moved out 9 years ago. There are no high rise apartment blocks like benidorm or calpe. The Beaches are beautifull and there are some lovely bays which are not at all crowded if you dont mind getting in the car and exploring. You do need a vehicle to get around and there are some lovely places to go and see. The waterfalls at altea and Guadalest are 2 of our favourite places, and Moiria is lovely to go for a drink and something to eat at night, and we found it a lot more cheaper then Javea Arenal. The Port and town in Javea is also a bit more cheaper then the arenal and to sit in one of the restaurants on the front at the port is a lovely setting. I reccommend Javea to anyone but it is an expensive holiday now due to the euro but we took picnics to the beach which was lovely and ate in the apartment before going out for a drink this saved us some money especially as you can get lovely fresh produce and fish in the Mercadona

The beach was very clean with plenty of restaurants near by. Beach umbrellas were very expensive to hire (15 euro) and the restaurants although plentiful were also very expensive for the type of food they were offering. Parking was was easy and free. The sea is very clean and shallow, ideal for small children, but watch out for the purple jelly fish which claimed one of our party as a victim. Very impressed by the first aid station on the beach with english speaking attendants who dealt with the problem straight away. A charge is made for the beach showers if you have not hired an umbrella but there are free mini showers for washing your feet just as you leave the sandy area. Overall we enjoyed our visit to Javea.

Malos accesos a las playas para sillitas (bordillos altos y tablas en arena muy cortas), igual que para cruzar las carreteras.

It should also be noted that we selected Javea as we have family living there permanently.

Javea has someting for most people with its Arenal beach and restaurants, the old town with its shops and culture and the beautiful scenery and Montgo the mountain overlooking the town. It is a safe and freindly resort with many nationalities holidaying there and a large expat community.

We just loved everything about Javea, not too commercialised or built up but enough to keep us going for the week and we really could have spent much more exploring the local areas. We will definately return to Javea!

Highly recommend Restaurant Terracotta, excellant food and surroundings for an intimate dinner for two or a relaxing evening with friends.

javea is a dream place for a holiday, it is not over commercialised and the people are friendly. this would be my ideal place to either live permantely or own a holiday home there and then retire. the beaches are clean and safe and the arenal is lovely both day and night. i think it is lovely for all age groups but mostly for couples on their own or with young children i think youngsters of about 20 would prefer something more vibrant. as i feel javea is a more relaxing and sophisticated type of holiday. I would recommend this holiday to anyone. I do believe having a rental car is very worthwhile as there are some lovely places to visit, such as the waterfalls at altea, the caves at gata de gorges and moriara is beautifull. The evenings along the arenal looking at all the stalls is lovely and i can browse along them every night whilst stopping for a drink in the bars. we found a wonderful bar this year call platino and on a thursday night there is a brilliant soul singer called soulja who sounded very much like marvin gaye, i hope he is there next year when we return.

Javea is definitely very divided between classy port area and the Arenal beach which although clean was unsophisticated.....felt like I was in two worlds. Loved the port area where we were staying as it had managed to stay unspoilt -no big hotels or typical seaside resort stuff that can be found further down the coast. Wonderful selection of restaurants, classy shops and beautiful places to sit right by the sea in the evenings. Perhaps difficult with teenagers though as they wanted to be at the Arenal beach end where all the typical action was......pity there is not a free bus ride along the coast as it is a very long walk to the beach if you stay at the port end. We were so lucky to have the most beautiful villa in the hills overlooking Javea, it surpassed our expectations!!!

The town has certainly changed in the 6 years since our last visit, although I think we went in May rather than August on the previous trip. There was a problem with parking anywhere near the beach and consequently we didn't visit the main beach with its bars and shops. The beach itself was very crowded.
However the beach bars between Arenal and the port were very nice for a drink or coffee during the morning.
This however did not spoil our holiday as we had a villa with a pool and the beach ans sea were not top of our list.

Beautiful arquitecture around, orange and almond plantations, nice beaches... a perfect place for a vacation with children.

Javea is a lively city with beautiful surrounding mountains and cliffs. A lot of restaurants with affordable prices. The main sandy beach is fine but go there by late afternoon to avoid the crowd. Javea has avoided the big buildings that spoil several spanish beach resorts. The consequence is that you have many nice houses spread on a large area...so you need a car in general. For golfers , go to La Sella golf club: Nicer, cheaper and more welcoming than the Javea golf club!

Thriving ex-pat community and very fine golden beaches. Javea is divided into 3 areas: Javea Pueblo, Javea Puerto and Playa del Arenal. The Pueblo (Old Town) is a whitewash of Gothic style buildings and the Church of San Bartolome... food, vegetables and fish market and nice walks. Javea Puerto (the Port) is still a functioning fishing port with spectacular views across the bay and a pleasant promenade dotted with open air terrace restaurants and bars.
The Playa Arenal beach has fine golden sand, volleyball nets and plenty of areas for the kids... as well as a good array of café bars and restaurants.
Definitively worth visiting the rocky outlet Cabo de la Nao (8 km South of the Arenal). Stunning view of the back of Javea and as far as Ibiza on a clear day.
