Kathikas is a genuine & unspoilt Cypriot village. The whole village joined in the annual Grape Festival on the Sat night with delicious food & plenty of wine. It is an excellent base to explore this whole area. In August we appreciated it being at 600 Metres with a gentle breeze.

Kathikas is just about off the beaten track - but enough people know about it to let it support a number of really good tavernas. It feels unspoilt - but has all the basic amenities. It is certainly not the place to go if you want nightlife as you can walk down the middle of the road at 11pm and hardly meet another person and you definitely won't be run over by any cars. It is ideally located to go to either the North or South coast - just see which side looks the nicer in the morning. Because it is about 600m high the evenings are cool, which makes sleeping easy - even when it's really hot on the coast during the day. It is an ideal choice if you're looking for a quiet, authentic village but with easy access to paphos or Coral bay if you want it.

The village is very traditional and friendly. There are 3/4 very good places to eat, however our villa was so great we did only eat out 3 times. There was a wine festival during our stay and that was great to see all the local villages come together and the people who now live in the city come home to enjoy their fantastic food and wine. thre are a couple of local bars which great and the service is excellent. kathikas is great too because it is not as humid as being down in the towns like Coral Bay or Paphos. the wineries are excellent and well worth a visit. there is also a small supermarket which we visited daily, however it was also an excuse to use the car and go to other placees to explore. Kathikas has spectacular views and we never lost an opportunity to take pictures. The sunset is amazing too. It was great to go to Cyprus and see the more traditional side and really made us want to re-locate there. Watch this space.

Kathikas is a small rural village about 25 minutes drive for Paphos. We found that it was mostly locals & not many tourists. It s very quiet so do not go if you are looking for wild night life! Five restaurants & 2 pubs (one more inviting than the other). It is a typical Cypriot village where it appears that life probably hasn't changed much for years. The buildings are mostly of stone work with most having been modernised at some point but there are still some ruins or run down buildings. It was very relaxing and is a good base for many tourist attractions & other rural villages.

The Farm Yard tavern is a place you must visit if staying in Kathikas, amazing value for money, friendly staff and a 10% discount off your next meal!
The village of Kathikas is lovely, quiet, and authentic - very clean too! Everyone was friendly even if they didn't speak any English!
We had an amazing stay and are already recommending the area to friends!
