Kenmare is a good central location for exploring South West Ireland with an excellent range of shops and facilities for anyone considering a holiday in the area.

We first visited Kenmare 10 years ago - found to our liking that it has not changed much and still has much of the charm it had before. We like the fact that it is situated at the beginning of the Beara Peninsula, which we prefer to the Ring of Kerry. Very easy to find eating places and just enjoyable to walk the streets. Love the surrounding area.

Kenmare town was very interesting and had plenty of choice for food and evening entertainment. We found everywhere was much more expensive than what we experience in the UK and treated the £ sterling almost on par with the euro. Everywhere we dined was very efficient and friendly and the meals were of good quality. The evening entertainment in all of the establishments we visted was excellent and we joined in fully with all that was going on. Our residence was about 2 miles outside Kenmare which was too far to walk, so the driving had to be shared between two on alternate evenings. There was a reasonable amount of interesting shops in Kenmare itself geared towards the tourist. As it is located on the Ring of Kerry it was easy to get on our daily travels to wherever we wanted to go.

The town of Kenmare is charming and friendly. The local golf course was one of our favorite's as well as one of the best priced. Plenty of shopping and close to lots of interesting day trips.

kenmare is perfectly located for side trips to the Rings of Kerry and Beara. One can also go on hikes in all directions and discover interesting spots on one's own.
Review by Angela Phillips from Little Weighton, East Riding .U.K
A beautiful base to tour both the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara.
The town is well appointed and friendly without feeling like a tourist trap.
The tourist information office is extremely helpful and the range of facilities in the surrounding area is extensive.
There is a good range of pubs and restaurants all serving good quality food.
This is the sort of town you would definitely want to return to.

Review by James Weed from Columbia, MD USA
Kenmare is superbly located to serve as a base for exploring both the Ring of Beara and the Ring of Kerry, as well as the various gardens and stately mansions in the area. The town is small but has all the necessary amenities, including plenty of opportunities to hear traditional Irish music.
