Review by Kathleen Toner from Belfast

La Azohia is very beautiful and totally unspoilt. The local people couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Very little english spoken (a good thing in my opinion) so take your phrase book with you. The Port of Mazaronne and the towns of Cartagena and Murcia a must to visit while you are in this region.

La Azohia is at the foot of beautifull mountains, if you like walking you will be in paradise, but there is plenty of other things to occupy your interests ie fortification all round the coast, check out the lo

Review by Beth & Ian Farrow from Bridgend

La Azohia was everything that we wanted.  Unspoilt, sleepy and typically Spanish with very little English being spoken by the locals, who were all very friendly.  It is very pretty with the most fantastic sun sets and was completely uncommercialised.  There were very few British tourists and in fact, hardly any tourists at all when we visited mid September, but for us it was perfect.

There are only three shops - Pharmacy, Bodega and a small shop selling basic food and necessities, there are also only a handful of restaurants, but that simply added to the charm of La Azohia.  If you are looking for nightlife and the usual facilities in places like the Costa Del Sol and other commercial areas then this would not be for you.  If like us however, you wanted to be somewhere pretty, unspoilt and totally relaxing then La Azohia would certainly appeal to you too.  It is close to other lovely areas such as Isla Plana, Puerto de Mazarron and Cartagena which have more facilities so it is a perfect place to stay.

Both of us having very busy jobs, we returned feeling totally and utterly relaxed and are ready to book another holiday in La Azohia next year!

La Azohia is totally unspoilt and very Spanish - what a getaway!

Review by Eamonn ODea from Mallow, County Cork, Ireland

La Azohia is a beautiful village, unspoilt by mass tourism from what I could see. Mostly Spanish holiday makers, also English and some French at the El Pinar de San Gines complex. Mostly young families and it was ideally suited as it was a lovely quiet location. La Azohia has number of local bars which server food, and a couple of restuarants also which were vrey reasonably priced. The people are welcoming and friendly. If you decide to travel there and are expecting a strip like Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote then you will be disappointed. Nite life is quiet and subdued, which is what we were looking for, most relaxing experience i have had to date. I would highly recommend La Azohia for a relaxing and chilled holiday!

Review by JOHN PEMBERTON from LEEK, STAFFS

La Azohia is still a very Spanish resort which nestles at the foothills of a small range of hills/mountains. It is not built up and there are no high rise hotels or similar. There are extensive, clean beaches which during the week are relatively uncrowded but get much busioer at weekend when Spanish families make use of them. There are only a few restaurants but they serve typical Spanish meals and the fresh fish is a delight to try. If you want a relaxing beach holiday then you must try La Azohia.

Review by R Pettigrew from Berwick upon Tweed

For anyone wishing to visit Spain but not the usual tourist areas, La Azohia is the place to go. With only one hotel and no through road it provides a relaxing and peaceful ambience but, is not completely isolated - a short drive will take you to other beaches and a variety of shopping facilities. The bay is beautiful and you can stroll along the promenade stretching all around to the harbour until late in the evening and feel perfectly safe.

In addition to the locals, the majority of holidaymakers are Spanish although there are a number of British people in the area. Learning the language is to be recommended, particularly if you visit one of the local restaurants where the scene and the menu is typically Spanish.

Although La Azohia is well worth a visit, one would hope that it remains idyllic and not developed to an extent which would spoil the serenity it possesses.

Accessibility to the Spanish Market was a most interesting experience to me. A great new buying opportunity and a chance to view another culture's products and shopping. Regretted not bringing along some water as the day was hotter than I expected in October. It was crowded and fun and I wished I had more room in my suitcase.

Review by DAVID PALLETT from LEICESTER

la azohia is a quiet unspoilt fishing village with safe bathing in crystal clear water , the local fish are superb, asnd there are many varied restaurants in the area

Review by Brian Mallett from Manston Kent

A small Spainish fishing village which has escaped the commercialisation normally found in Spain. Good beachs, safe, can walk out 20 yards and still only up to your knees...clean beach and not busy even on a Sunday when the locals use it...Ideal for a family wiht young children. Teenageers will find it a little quiet for them as there is no night life (discos). Close, 10 mins by car to Port Mazarron with good shops and supermarkets including Lidel and Mercadonna.

Review by Hazel Domakin from Oldham

La Azohia is quiet resort, convenient for surrounding areas, not a spolied as some.

La Azohia is a very spanish resort - you wont find many English tourists here which adds to its authentic charm. The beach is beautiful and perfect for young families.

Review by Carol young from Newcastle

Like stepping back in time! La Azohia is as Spain was before being hit by tourism on mass!!! Excellent quiet tranquil, very pleasant.

Review by JOHN PEMBERTON from LEEK,STAFFS

La Azohia is a relatively small resort that lies at the foot of the surrounding mountains. The resort which occupies a large sweeping bay is quiet and relaxing but has a large area of beach space and the sea shelves quite gently so it is safe for children. There are good restaurants in the resort and although their menus are not extensive, they do offer lots of fresh fish to choose from. La Azohia has few shops and no large supermarket but these can be found around 15 minutes drive away at Mazarron where there are also banks, restaurants etc. La Azohia is not for those who expect lots of activities and night life but if you want to relax and let life pass you by for a week or two then this is just the place.

Review by Diane France from Lancaster

Some of the restaurants were a little overpriced but that was the only negative comment about La Azohia that we have. Perfect in all other aspects!!!

Review by Yvonne Bell from Fife

scenic area, mountains to the back, beach and sea to the front of the aparatments, great views from the roof tops of the apartments. Lots of places to go and discovery, very central for anyone that wants to tour Murcia region. Great for walking and cycling holidays of season.

La Azohia is the perfect place for people who want lovely scenery, safe beaches and in the season boat trips and boat related activities including diving. This is not for youngsters looking for discos and wild nightlife. We have returned time and time again to the beaches and the sunsets are stunning.

Review by Andrea Davies from Thornton

If you're looking for real Spain (as opposed to Brits abroad) then La Azohia is the place for you. It's a quaint seaside town, with a handful of spanish restaurants, where you can actually get spanish food (no burgers and chips). Take your phrase book, as the locals don't speak much English, but this is the best way to learn

Review by MICHAEL SANDISON from CLEVEDON

We have been visiting La Azohia for many years now, out of the main season. It is typically Spanish and during the Winter months very quiet. It will not suit those who want plenty of night life and Blackpool type entertainment. But for those who want a stroll along quiet passeos to the jetty where fishermen set out their nets and go fishing for tuna most mornings, it will appeal. There are a few cafes and restaurants and plenty of good walking to give you an appetite for tapas with coffee, beer or a glass of wine. The views back across the bay to Puerto Mazarron are stunning especially from the Torre. The area is well known for scuba diving as the water is clear, but again in the Winter months not all facilities are open.

Review by robert geel from javea

Even the unspoiled setting of La Azohia and Isla Plana is becoming a building scene, which is unfortunately not unusual along all the spanisch Costas anymore.

Review by Karen SHEPHERD from Newport

The resort of La Azohia is a real gem as it's unspoilt but still has facilities and a real friendly feel. It's a very safe environment and just the most wonderful mountain scenery right down to the beachside. The nearby resort of Puerte Mazarron has an upmarket feel on the waterfront but the local restaurants provide the most excellent value for money menu del dias. You can dine for a king on ten euros!

Review by judy jones from swansea

Everything was v.quiet on 17th Nov week - which suited us. The weather was good for walking in the local mountains although we did get completely drenched on one afternoon. Excellent value Menu of the Day.

Local scenery rather marred by acres of plastic covered greenhouses.

Review by Karen Shepherd from Newport

La Azohia is a real gem, unspolit but with all the facilities you could need for a relaxing or an action packed holiday. The scenic beauty is there for all to enjoy with plenty of scope for land and water sports. Great restaurants and bars locally and in the nearby resorts of Isla Plana and Mazarron, even through the winter months and great shopping on the doorstep too! With the aid of a car you have some fantastic places to discover, from the wilds of the Sierra D'Espuna to the lovely city centre and naval port of Cartagena.

Review by Elisabeth Vad Soerensen Soerensen from Denmark

Dear June Barclay I am happy to tell you, that we enjoyed every second of our stay at La Azohia. It is at wonderful appartment in wonderful surroundings. The appartment is perfectly equipped with everything you might need. We enjoyed the nights on the roof terrace. Kind regards Soeren Vad, Denmark (I hope, you can spell your way through my lousy English)
