Travel Reviews : La Torre Golf Resort (Polaris World)

Review by Kate Hartley from London

The resort is beautifully designed - a lot of thought has gone in not just to the design of the apartments and villas, but to the overall look and feel of the whole resort. It has palm trees, flowers planted everywhere, fountains, paths and little hidden squares to sit and relax, all with a very Spanish feel. The golf course means that there is a real feeling of space, and the town centre offers everything you need from supermarket to bars and restaurants. It is beatifully maintained.

Review by Joanne Cathie from Allostock, Knutsford

Our week's break was half term October (last week). We had expected more going on in the resort given that it was a holiday in UK and it was Halloween! The Bamboo was closed and the restaurants on site had a limited menu. Also the golf club bar was closed. Only downstairs (19th hole) was open. A bit disappointing. Having said that, the service and food that we ordered was superb and standard had not dropped. The Irish Bar is always a winner! Back again next spring!

Review by susan johnston from bathgate

i went with 4 other friends all of mixed age ranging from 36-56 for a relaxing holiday, we all found what we were looking for even though we didn't play golf we took in the beautiful scenery around the golf course, ate in really nice restaurants, had great fun in the Irish bar some nights and spent nights just chilling out in the villa enjoying the barbecue by the pool. something for all ages!

Review by Erica Oldfield from Barry

Very clean and tidy, however the shuttle service to the 'exclusive beach resort' completely misleading! its not exclusive its awful, really dirty, crowded and totally swarming with cigarette butts! the village centre in La Torre had a great selection of restaurants, but don't think you can just turn up to eat... you must book!

Review by Rachel Campbell from Henlow

La Torre is a purpose built town around a golf course. It has a supermarket and a number of restaurants which are quite expensive so would say a hire car is essential if you want to leave the urbanisation.

Review by Paul Gratton from Wirral

Paloris World cannot promote itself as a 5 star complex unless it is prepared to accept that there is an issue with the flie infestation that currently covers the La torre complex. It needs urgent attention.

Review by lesley pitcher from west malling

Very clean and quiet if you weren't staying to near the town centre as this was sometimes noisey in the evenings. Pools were well kept and clean as well as the gardens. Limited access to internet always a long wait also lack of sky sports for football. Restaurants were good but a bit expensive, cheaper to eat in or to eat outside the resort. Hotel pool was excellent and staff were very friendly.

Review by Anna Williamson from Stoke-On-Trent

I found La Torre Golf resort to be the best self-catering resort I have stayed in and I have stayed in many!! The grounds are kept beautifully and always clean. It had everything we could want, within walking distance, which was especially good as we did not hire a car. One factor that particularly stood out for me, was how safe I felt walking around the resort even when it was dark. I would thoroughly recommend La Torre to others, in fact, I already have.

Review by Kyle Milne from Edinburgh

La Torre Golf Resort at Polaris World is the perfect getaway to enjoy a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of other tourist hotspots in Spain. Facilities onsite and surrounding area within 10/15mins drive make it the perfect spot for enjoying those great family breaks.

Golf Course is well worth playing, lots of water and hazards make strategy and course management a must, but for 30 Euros for Twlight Golf after 3pm its a complete bargain for the standard of this excellent course.

Fantastic choice of restaurants means you can enjoy something different as you please or simply unwind back at your villa over your BBQ.

Review by Jennifer Allan from Livingston

La Torre Golf Resort is absolutely beautiful. Everything you need is there - there is actually no need to leave the resort if you dont want to! There is a great feeling of safety with the visible onsite security. It is spotlessly clean and beautifully laid out. There are a few lovely restaurants in particular Encina the show-cooking buffet restaurant which enjoys fabulous views over the lake and golf course. Best to book the restaurants though and be prepared to ask for childrens food as they dont seem to provide childrens menus. All restuarants have great toilet facilities - the cleanest Ive ever seen on holiday! On site supermarket is really well stocked and reasonably priced. Would recommend car hire as easy to get about surrounding areas once you get used to it!

Review by David Hodgins from Bangor

La Torre is an secure oasis in a rural setting but just a short drive to the beaches, bars, restaurants of the Mar Menor and La Manga. Good family setting, easy on the eye and with excellent facilities on site. Car hire essential but will reward you with easy access to interesting places within easy reach.

Review by Ross Collard from Norwich

Thought La Torre was an excellent site obviously still maturing in certain areas such as entertainment venues and competitive food pricing.

The golf looked ecellent although at 55 Euros a round plus hire of equipment and trolly too expensive for the keen golfer who likes to play more than once per week.

Prices I feel need to be more competitive, you can play a lot cheaper on other courses off site. For residents who financially support the Polaris World Dream and have paid and are paying community charges there could be reductions of up to 15/20% for those members wishing to play golf on a more regular basis.

Review by sidney sutton from chelmsford

excellent for golf but far to expensive with pound as it is

Review by Julie Woodhams from Sheffield

La Torre is a beautiful resort, very peaceful and safe for families with small children. Immaculately clean streets and play areas, and there is the preence of the security doing their rounds every night to make sure evything is ok. We felt perfectly happy and safe with our little by running off in front. The swimming pools and tennis courts are very well maintained and again spotlessly clean. The views of the golf course and lakes were stunning, especially the view from the town centre in the evening. Snacks and drinks a little expensive but that is due to the exchange rate of the euro in todays present climate. 2 years ago when we had £1 - Eu 1.47 things were a lot cheaper. We will be visiting again in a few months time and certainly be recommending this to other friends.

Review by DAVID PHILLIPS from NEATH

We were very pleased with La Torre and will definitely return.

Review by Claus Bagger from Birkerød

La Torre golf resort is a quiet and relaxing place to stay, with its own town centre consisting of stylish mediteranean style buildings and cosy atmosphere. We tried the restaurent Limonere twice and the food and service was excellent at a very reasonable price.

The resort has a shop with many everyday needed items at OK prices.

Review by Kevin Donaldson from London

La Torre Golf Resort (Polaris World) is a fantastic place. PW have built a world class golf resort centred around a Jack Nicklaus designed 18 hole golf course but which also caters to non-golfers by offering a gym, a world-class on-site 5-star Intercontinental hotel with Spa and a range of excellent bars and restaurants in which to while away a morning or afternoon. The resort is linked by bus to the other PW resorts in the area including the very upmarket El Valle resort 10 minutes away, the established and beautiful Mar Menor resort nearer the areas beaches, Terrazas de la Torre and Kacienda Riquelme. At present the PW golf tour offers four golf courses but this is to expand to 9 across 6 resorts all located with 30-35 minutes of La Torre. In all cases Polaris has gone out of it's way to build quality and the presence of companies like Intercontinental and ESPA highlight that other leading companies see the companys ambition and align with it's ethos. It's not all perfect, some sites are being built but La Torre is now complete. It can be expensive onsite, especialy at current exchange rates, but if you like quality, friendly and relaxed and if golf or spa-time is your thing, away from traditional British-Spain, PolarisWorld is for you.

Review by Brian Hopkins from Bourne

We liked it so much that we are buying an apartmenton Las Terrazas de la Torre

Review by Bernadette Knight from Jersey

The Las Torre Golf Resort has been well designed. Once you know the set up, its was easy to find your way around. They are building the hotel at the moment, so there was a bit of dust and noise. The restaurants were only open on certain days, the food is very good and not that badly priced. Beautiful golf course.

Review by Margaret Ann Boyle from Bathgate

La Torre Golf Resort is gorgeous. Large but not too large that you couldnt walk to all amenities. The Club House is beautiful. The restaurants were all good and staff were excellent and friendly, especially in the Bamboo and Tapas Bar, exceptional service! The live entertainment in the Bamboo was brilliant, danced my feet off!!! The resort is very clean and well maintained. So quiet and peaceful during the day. You do neeed a car however if you wish to leave the resort. If you need to use the taxi service, they are very expensive!! Overall, ten out of ten. I will recommend to friends and family!

Easy to find from Murcia airport. The entrance was impressive, security was of a high standard which    makes you feel very secure. The resort itself was very clean and had everything we needed to have a lovely holiday, from supermarket, pub and resturants to the many swimming pools (too many to see on one visit). Plenty of activities to keep the children occupied with the beaches, waterpark and zoo close by although they were more than happy in any of the pools on site. We would visit again.

Review by Sean & Niki Bover from Stockton On Tees

fantastic really enjoyed the resort

Review by Sharon Davenport from Bangor

La Torre is peaceful and well maintained. The town centre would benefit from a few more restrurants and shops.

Security is good and the occasional misconduct from some younger people was handled quickly and

professionally. The bar staff particularly in the Irish Bar are inexperienced service was slow and prices varied

frequently . Overall it is an excellent resort which will continue to improve as it matures.

Review by Stephen Marshall from Carrickfergus

great for golfers but also heaven for sun worshippers with a wow factor setting. The complex is maturing and improving all the time

Review by Karen Cansell from Chelmsford

La Torre Golf Resort is safe, secure, immaculately kept and has a real community feel to it!

Review by DAVID HARTLEY from CHESTER-LE-STREET

Well presented, clean and tidy but rather to quiet and isolated for our liking. Probably ideal if you are looking for a chill out and don't fancy getting out and about. However, we had teenagers who found it all rather to quiet for their liking. The resort is also rather in the middle of nowhere and it always felt a bit of a trek to reach anywhere of any interest.

the resort was also very expensive, in particular for drinks and there was never enough staff at any of the restaurants or bars so you constantly had to queue for quite a while.

On the plus side the golf course was excellent and the entire resort will benefit when the large new hotel is completed.

Review by Jacqueline Bradley-Gallagher from Clitheroe

La Torre Golf Resort is surely becoming another jewel in Spain's crown - it is a place for safe family fun, relaxing within either the 'town centre' or in one of the beautifully appointed villas. Although not fully completed, the remaining building works do not interfere with one's holiday. The surrounding grounds and other areas of the resort were well kept, clean and safe, our children particularly enjoyed the other pools within the complex. The supermarket and bars and restaurants were competatively priced, compared to other towns outside the resort and we enjoyed the selection of food and drinks offered. I would definately return for another holiday and refer it to others.

Review by michael philliben from johnstone

La Torre Golf Resort has something for everyone, its not just all about golf. you can relax by the pool, play tennis, learn to play golf, practice on the driving range. you can enjoy a drink at one of the bars and have a meal at one of the restaraunts on the site that cater for most tastes. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Review by member Doherty from Barton

Very clean and well looked after. Friendly staff. Facilities for not just the golfers but ok for children also.

Review by Carol Mulligan from Carrickergus, Northern Ireland

La torres Golf resort was picturesque and well maintained. The swimming pools were cleaned and maintained everyday. The supermarket was well equipped and reasonably priced. There are four restaurants on the complex each providing good quality cuisine at affordable prices..The main clubhouse is excellent with friendly service. There is internet, pool and snooker tables for the young and old alike..The resort can be as quiet or as lively as you would like it to be..I personally enjoyed the walks, tennis and eating out. I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday and would recommend the resort to family and friends..

Review by Cynthia Kavanagh from Bristol

Wonderful complex with many amenities and still more to come when completed. It was so good we were even thinking of buying and living there !

Review by Harriet Griffiths from Harrogate

La Torre was a really beautiful golf resort, with wonderful facilities. I would highly recommend it!

Review by graham strickland from east kilbride

excellent accommodation, superb setting and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, I would definately recomend this to anyone

Review by David Hodgins from Bangor

Although it is difficult to provide instant atmosphere in a newly built resort La Torre is well on the way. There are a good range of restaurants available covering a decent price range which should suit every budget. The setting of the town centre is excellent with views onto the lake and attractive white dwellings beyond. All this should be enhanced when the 5 star hotel opens beside the town centre in the coming months.

Whilst not the longest golf course, it appears to have a premium on accuracy rather than pure length and gives all abilities the chance to enjoy a game. There are numerous swimming pools and childrens play areas which make it a place very much attuned to the family holiday.

No expense has been spared to make the entire resort attractive from the planting of thousands of mature trees and shrubs to the lakes and fountains, particulary the attractive fountain centrepiece on the first roundabout as you enter the resort.

Overall Polaris are creating an Oasis which is as appealing as much for the value it offers as the serenity of the surroundings.

Review by visitor

Polaris concept very impressive - golf courses immaculate and very good value for money - offers of 40 Euros for a 2 ball months July and August at Polaris courses

La Torre a little densely populated - newly opened Hacienda Riquelme likely to be less so but with all facilities of La Torre

Restaurants at La Torre varied from average to good, Mar Menor (another Polaris resort) had slightly better restaurants and bars. A free shuttle bus runs between all Polaris resorts

Review by fred griffiths from dublin

the resort has everything the golfer could want. friendly staff good security lovely golf course 2 nice bars and a very nice italian diner. the resort itself is abourt 20 to 30 mins from the town r the beach.the beach town of san javier and the city of murcia are worth a visit.

Review by Christine Usher from Goole

It was very easy to find from the airport at san javier. It took about 20 minutes. The resort was very clean and tidy. There was a good supermarket that was well stocked with lots of fresh fruit, bread etc and it opened untill 9pm.In the 'town'centre there was a few bars and restaurants which had a variety of different types of food, the italian was particulary good. The security system on the front main entrance was very good recording your car number to gain access when you returned. It felt very safe as there was a lot of security patroling the area in cars.It was very upmarket and did not have any groups of people just familys, couples or friends enjoying the golf.

Review by member Baker from Bromley

Great site was reccommend by work colleague. Wont book anywhere else!!

Review by Carrol Tegerdine from Castleford

La Torre Golf Resort is a very clean well kept incredibley large site, very quiet when we visited in March, good for a very relaxing break, weather was warm to sit around pool, people very friendly. We don't play golf but really enjoyed the break.

Review by Darren Jones from Leicester

Overall we were very impressed with the resort, it seemed clean and well managed throughout and we thought the restaurants were first class without being overly expensive. We also enjoyed the Indian restaurant just down the road from La Torre, although watch out for the spicy poppadoms as they’ll blow your head off! We found lots to do in the local area and I’m almost embarrassed to say I never even found time to play golf! All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and would have no problem in recommending the resort to others. We’ll definitely be coming back to La Torre.

Review by Martina Westville from Cork

Magnificent golf resort I will be back for more

Review by douglas potter from wallasey

la torre golf resort is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a verry good game of golf on a world class course

Review by Jan Hardwick from Connah's Quay

We enjoyed our stay at La Torre and even though we are not golfers we fwlt relaxed and comfortable. The security was great and everywhere was clean and tidy. A refreshing, relaxing place to be.

Review by jenni Huke from Bedford

La Torre, Mar Menor is a lovely, safe , clean complex. the swimming facilities are excellent, with numerous pools to choose from. As Tennis lovers we spent every day on the Tennis courts which were in excellent condition. Although we didn't play golf, it was enjoyable to watch the golfers hit the balls over ( and somtimes into the lake ) that our villa looked out over. It is a very good base to explore the surrounding area, and with hiring a car you can do so much more outside of the resort.

Review by Hilde Szikszay from Norway- Larvik

La Torre have a nice golf course, but it was badly service in the pro-shop, but we like La Torre as a holiday place.

Review by David Thear from Woking

La Torre is a good resort which will only improve as facilities come on stream

Review by BARRY lavin from BRIDGEND

EXCELLENT VALUE AND A GOOD PLACE TO RELAX.
