Travel Guides: All Countries / Spain / Costa del Sol / Manilva
Local culture... Manilva is a typical Spanish town which has started to cater for tourism. You may not find the same kind of nightlife as you would in say Fuengirola. Manilva is a reasonably quiet town. But that is not to say that this is a sleepy, boring town.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can sample local foods. There are also many chiringuitos lining the beaches renowned for their excellent seafood dishes.
If you visit the Marina known as La Duquesa Puerto Deportivo you will find a wide variety of sporting activities to take part in like diving and other water sports. And just a short drive away you will find one of the Costa’s top golf courses La Duquesa Golf and Country Club. This 18 hole, oval shaped course was established in 1989, and is typically British in design and makes a very interesting game.
The gastronomy of the region is typical Andalusian with food consisting of local ingredients. The most popular of theses are olive oil, fresh fish and seafood. Other local products include wine, honey and cheeses.
Manilva does have a few dishes of its own though. These include Asparagus soup, fried anchovies, fish cooked in almonds and cod cakes. There are also various local pastries and grapes available for you to try.
