Travel Guides: All Countries / Spain / Costa del Sol / Manilva
During your visit to Manilva you must see... One of the main attractions of Manilva is the Castillo de Sabinillas which had the task of keeping guard over the coast. Until recently it was used as a Police and Civil Guard headquarters but now open to the public. The castle has a spectacular view of the whole stretch of coast and it was no longer it was used as a watch tower. However the castle that stands today is not the original but still looks quite monumental.
A reminder of past Roman occupation can be seen in the beautifully preserved Roman Sulphur Baths. You can swim in these pools situated in underground coves however, be warned, you will smell of sulphur for sometime after!
In the city centre you will find some more handsome historical buildings. One of these is the Church of Santa Ana which was erected in the late 17th century. Other buildings worth a visit include the Almenada Tower in Punta Chullera and Duquesa Tower.
La Cala de la Sardina is the most un-crowded and beautiful beaches that stretches out for 7km and has been a favourite with fishermen. If you are looking for a peaceful day out this is the place to go.
