Travel Reviews : Marmaris

The beach clubs are great

I love Turkey. You're made to feel so welcome, the people are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for them to help make you feel happy.

Marmaris is full of fun. Life can be as quiet or noisy as you want it. If you like to shop, you ve got to spend a full night or day at the bazaar shopping. I'd say nights are a bit cooler. Marmaris market is on once a week but we would go early in the morning as it's covered and gets very stuffy mid-day.

There's something for everyone, no matter what age. Sit at a little cafe at the side of the bizaar and watch the world go by.

Boat trips are a great, fun way to relax. They cost £10 per adult (including food and drink).

The beach clubs are fab and the outdoor swimming park on Marmaris beach isgood value.

Gumbet is more for the younger holidaymakers and has fun night life. Gumbet hill is a wonderful place if you like to walk - it has the best views around.

You'll get the bug

I have only been to Marmaris twice and I loved it each time. Trust me once you go you'll get the bug to go back.

The best thing about Marmaris for me has to be the nightlife, it is so lively and great, everyone gets up and dances and you don't feel out of place.

If you are going try Apache Bar and the seaside - they're the best.

A cheap and cheerful holiday

I loved Marmaris. Although the accommodation was pretty bad, we had got it at a bargain price and everything else was so cheap so we didn't really mind.

The market was brilliant. Everything so cheap and the stall holders were great craic. All the locals were lovely, really friendly.

The only bad thing was the length of travelling time. The plane journey was 4.5 hours and then it was a couple of hours on the coach. We left Belfast at 9.30pm so it was a really long day.

We have decided that next time we go it will be for two weeks.

This is the place to go

I went to Marmaris twice in three months. It is one of the best holidays that I have been on and I am looking forward to going again.

The best thing about Marmaris is the people, they are very friendly.

Also I love the nightlife very much and I love the fact that it is so cheap. If anybody is looking to go on holiday this year this the place to go.

Recommend the scuba diving

I have been to this location twice now and enjoyed it very much. I can recommend the scuba diving and the jeep safari not to mention the fantastic nightlife.

Lots to do

What a wonderful place, things to do, places to go - I could go on forever.

Things to be aware of are tour operator trips which are very expensive - speak to the locals, haggle with them you will save pounds.

As a 63-year old single traveller I find booking a flight-only with transfer does away with the single supplement. This will be my eleventh week in four years.

Home from home

What can I say. I first went there eight years ago for a holiday, loved it so much and kept going back.

There is everything for all ages, and a beautiful marina where you can eat mouth-watering fish. It has many restaurants, bars and nice beaches and is easy to get around.

The Turkish people are so lovely and before you leave, you will have made many friends.

You must go. I'm sure you'll go back. It's like my second home.Give it a try.

Great for young people and families

Me and my friend Rebecca have been a few times to Marmaris. It's great for either young people or families alike.

We made quite a few Turkish friends whom we have kept in touch with. The nightlife is excellent, the food is cheap and varied to suit everyone - we are vegetarian and they will make something specially for you if there's nothing in their menu.

Shopping for clothes/textiles is good, but you get hassled constantly and have to bargain your price so if you can deal with that you can get good bargains.

The beach is not brilliant, but the pool is always enough for us.

There are loads of trips to take, the Turkish bath is highly recommended and scuba diving.

Our apartments were very basic, but clean and more than adequate for our needs. We highly recommend the resort to anyone.

Go there time and time again

I chose Marmaris as a holiday destination three years ago because it was within my price range.

I had reservations as many people told me it was a dirty place and that the Turkish people were not very friendly and more than a little pushy.

To say I was surprised would be an understatement. The place is spotless and the people are wonderful.

Marmaris beach leaves a lot to be desired although the watersports are very good. But there are swimming pools in most hotels and the owners are only too glad for you to use their facilities, especially if you buy a drink from them.

There are so many things to do in Marmaris itself and there is a lot of history in the old town with its castle perched on top of the hill looking out to the sea.

There are also many trips out of the town to see sights more beautiful than anywhere else in the world.

Those people who warned me of Turkey were obviously the ones who had never been because everyone I have met since travelling there goes time and again.

In fact the next time I go, in September, will be the seventh time in three years.

Go on, enjoy yourself, book Turkey.

Full marks

We found the people extremely friendly and Marmaris to be a lively resort that caters for all ages and types of holidaymakers.

We visited Izmir and went to Rhodes by hydrofoil.

My wife is a vegan and had no problems getting fed unlike most other places we have visited. All in all 10 out of 10.

Feel like you have come home

I go to Marmaris at least twice a year. I just love Turkey the people are so friendly you just feel like you have just come home.

Turkey is so good I could live there. The weather is beautiful, the scenery is just breathtaking. Just go you will love it.

An annual visitor

I have been going to Marmaris every year for the last six years. It is so friendly and lively.

You can get cheap bed and breakfast from around £4 each a night on the beach front.

Oh a word of warning if you order a half a lager it costs the same as a pint, so worth remembering !

I am going again in September so two visits this year

Enjoy Marmaris.

Nothing to compare

We have just come back from our 7th holiday in the same place,Calis beach which is near Fethiye, about 20 miles from Marmaris.

It is the best holiday place in the world and we just can't wait to get back there! The only new faces you see there are people who have been badgered to try it by friends like us who consider it their second home.

We are intending to buy a holiday home there within two years. The people are so lovely, they treat us as best friends and everyone remembers us even if we have never been in their bar or restaurant.

There is just nothing to compare with sitting in a sea-front restaurant with a beer or cocktail and watching the sun go down. I also love the mountains which surround the resort - the scenery is just stunning.

So if you want a brilliant holiday in a place you will go back to time

after time - go to Calis.
