Review by Robin Hales from Solihull
Whilst being very dissaponted with our rental accommadation we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Negombo.
Eating on the Beach Road is very good, and very reasonably priced. Cuisine is quite varied, catering for the tourist industry, but some of the modern local dishes are brilliant, lighly spiced and very tasty.
Other areas offer local dishes, my favourite being "Chicken Chopsey" in the Tanganyca Restuarant on the A3
The Tuk Tuk is the only way to travel. Very economical, and drivers local knowledge an asset to a holiday. We met Anton. His phone number is 077-6067981. We hired him as and when needed, whole day hire was around £10 to 20. He more than paid his way with local knolwedge of best shops etc.
We had a super boat trip starting at the canal in Kochichikade then into the River. The whole trip starting off at around 15-30 took 3 wonderful hours, lots of birdlife and other wild life to see. We had been quoted around 10-12,000 Rupees for this trip, Anton arranged it for Rs4,000.
My wife is Sri Lankan and I have visited Sri Lanka on 3 previous occasions. This trip to the Negombo area was the most enjoyable to date.
