Health - Before you go
No jabs needed. We have reciprocal medical care agreements with France - take an EHIC form with you (available from your post office).

Health - When you are there
No major health problems in France. If you need over-the-counter medicines, French pharmacies are usually marked by a green cross which is lit up when they're open.

Warnings
The south of France has a problem with tourist theft, mostly pickpocketing, theft from cars and snatching handbags. Don't live in fear - just be sensible, especially in crowds.

Don't beckon the waiter by shouting "garcon". Nowadays it's considered an insult. Say "s'il vous plait" instead.

The UK and France are participating in the pilot Pet Travel Scheme so you can take your dog or cat on holiday provided it has all the right documents. This takes several months to set up. See your vet for details.
