Monte Pego is to be differentiated from Pego town as it is an estate of 1200 villas built on a mountain. The access road is very steep with lots of hairpin bends. It is unlit at night so can be treacherous. All the villas and roads in Monte Pego are very similar and even after 2 weeks I was unsure of the way to and from the villa. It takes approx. 5mins in the car to use the mountain road on any journey mostly in 2nd or 3rd gear. It is however tranquil with spectacular views.
