We have been to Cyprus many times over the last 10 years and our kids have basically grown up with holidays in the Pernera/ Marlita area of Protaras. I would say the people are extremely friendly, they still remember us even after 3 years which is amazing. We found this a great place for the kids when they were younger and now they are in their teens we feel it safe enough to let them wander with their friends.
We noticed real improvements to the area, one of which is a beachside walkway from Pernera right into the middle of Protaros. Previously the only way to travel between the two areas was by car/ taxi or to walk along a stoney (and very dark) path but this new walkway really makes Protaros accessable.

A well serviced developing resort only a short walk along the new beach path to the resort of Protaras, lots of shops and restaurants nearby and the beaches were beautiful and safe for young children, Regular bus service to adjoining resorts and waterpark, a great choice for a family holiday and lovely and quiet at night
