The village of Peyia is a charming and beautiful village which offers a more traditional and relaxed alternative to the more commercial parts of Cyprus.
Review by Stephen Pugh from Exeter
Peyia is an easy going welcoming place offering all you could want, good tavernas, good weather and not far from the lovely Coral Bay beach
Review by John Wright from Ilkley
Peyia is a growing village set against the hills overlooking the resort of Coral Bay. The village is centred around a square and impressive church, with coffee shops and restuarants clustered next to the main road. Although expanding rapidly with apartment complexes and villas the old centre retains a wonderful charm and is worth exploring. For the tourist the village has supermarkets, local butchers and 2 excellent bakeries and is well served in the evening with good restaurants serving local dishes. Coral Bay with its Blue Flag beaches is just a 5 minute drive away and Peyia provides an ideal base to explore the unspoilt Akamas Peninsula and beyond.

I was dissappointed by the beaches - the sand in Cyprus in this area, many were described as golden sand but all were grey, however the warm clear water made up for the lack of nice beach!
Review by Jim Grimes from Dumbarton
Peyia is still a traditional village which is not too far from the buzz of Paphos and the glitzy razzmatazz of Coral Bay. There is a good selection of supermarkets - the one at the church was like the Tardis! The new bakery on the outskirts is to die for! There's a very good range of tavernas and restaurants - from the traditional to the very modern, to suite all tastes. Prices are reasonable and will not break the bank. The people of Payia are very friendly and welcoming. They take great pride in their village and it shows in its cleanliness and floral displays. The central park was a great place to cool off in the heat of the day. The ongoing developments on the outskirts have yet to infringe on the character and atmosphere of this charming traditional Cypriot hill village. Definitely worth a return visit, but given its hilly nature a car is essential!

We found Peyia to be a very traditional village, and the locals were very friendly. We were glad most spoke English, and also found them helpful.
The village is set on a hillside with beautiful views, very unspoilt.
We have visited Cyprus before but have not stayed in this area and would definitely consider returning.
We understand that the overall building programme in Cyprus is to slow down - this will again keep this traditional village a welcome place to visit. Its a real Jewel in the Crown!

we are moving permanently to peyia in july2009 as we are having an apt built there so we are very excited about moving ther and having visited other places on the island we are now glad that we chose peyia over any other place for its beauty and unspoilt areas.

Some really nice resturants and bars, so no need to go into town if you fancy staying local. Peyia Tavern provides an authentic Meze at a reasonable price. Two good supermarkets providing both Greek and british food.
Can see why so many Brits have purchased propery there.

Although we have visited Peyia many times in the past we have found wheelchair access restricted in the bars/restaurants in the village. But plenty to visit around the area.

Close to Coral Bay and Pafos itself, nicely on the hillside to catch the cool breezes and lift you our of the humidity belt.
Review by Judith Leigh from Sandy
Peyia is a quiet village with friendly inhabitants. In conjuntion with a suitable villa it has all the facilities you could need for a relaxing holiday in the sun. There are a couple of supermarkets - the most popular of which seems to be Phillipos, which is open until 9pm each day that has all that you could possibly need. There are plenty of restaurants offering both typically Cypriot and also more international cuisine. It's a bit of a hilly and widespread village so I would recommend having a hire car for getting about if your accommodation isn't quite close to the village centre. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday in a lovely setting with some beautiful views then you can't go wrong in Peyia.

Peyia is a nice quiet and friendly village which is building up to meet the demand from the new propertys being built in the surrounding areas, it is well served with supermarkets, bakery, butchers etc, it has its own hospital and dentists should there be a need to require one, there are also several restaurants who serve the traditional meals at a very reasonable cost. Peyia is very well situatd should you wish to travel around the area, Coral Bay is a 15 minutes drive and Paphos about 30 minutes, Polis and Latchi are about 35 minutes away, all the main roads are in good condition making driving easy. Overall I think Peyia is a real nice place to stay and the locals make you very welcome.

Peyia village is a laid-back, unpretentious and unspoiled village with lots of character. Its centre is marked by a lovely church and the village provides you with several authentic tavernas, family run bakeries, butchers & a well stocked supermarket. The village is close to the wonderful Coral Bay beach and Paphos town is a short drive away.

Peyia is a lovely area , the people are very friendly , there are plenty of shops and supermarkets to get food.there are plenty of very nice restaurants in and around Peyia to choose from however with the introduction of the Euro there are a bit expensive , but there are always take always instead.

There is a lot of building work on the outskirts of the village. The builders start work early but are usually finished mid afternoon.

My partner and I stayed at Villa Paros for 2 weeks in May '08 with another couple, and had a wonderful time. />

Best town and best people ever. Simple and straightforward.
Review by Julie Gardner from Ilford
Peyia offers a choice of cheap, basic eating out, and very good value supermarkets within a short drive of our apartment. However, its location is also only a short drive from Coral Bay, which offers a busier, more commerical, but enjoyable alternative. This was a great place to go for a family holiday!!
