Travel Reviews : Playa Blanca

Review by Carol Cox from Gravesend

Playa Blanca is (for us) an ideal location, the shops and restaurants are not tatty nor too upmarket but a good selection, albeit touristy. There are restaurants for all tastes, but thankfully only one Burger King! The beaches were clean and well used, all within walking distance of our villa at Casa del Sol. There are no nightclubs here, and the 18-30's are not really catered for, so it is a family/couples destination. The Spanish excel at organisation, and wherever we went on the island, there were no queues and the locals all seem to understand English and several other languages.

Review by Jacquie Pring from Birmingham

Playa Blanca is a quite quiet resort, if your looking for a bit more hustle and bustle you need think about stopping further up the coast.

A resort full of villas, and plenty more being built!

Car hire is essential.

Review by Peter Adams from Cambridge

Unspoilt area with plenty to do and see. Timanfaya National Park is a 'must see'.

Very picturesque and beautiful sandy beaches which are not too crowded.

Thriving activities on Dorada beach, such as; Para gliding, jet ski hire, banana boat rides and flying fish ride (well worth a go)

Walk along the promenade and shop with plenty of places to eat along the way.

Rubicon marina is approx 20 mins walk and worth a visit, there is also a very good and quiet outside swimming pool there.

Fabulous villa & with a car (Autoreisen) for the 2 weeks, made for an excellent holiday. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone seeking a 'chill-out' holiday. Thankyou.

Review by Rosanne Simpson from Ballynahinch

Although we really liked Playa Blanca and its restaurants and shops, we much preferred Marina Rubicon which is just a few kilometres out of Playa Blanca. We loved the setting as it is right on the harbour. We spent a lot more time in Marina Rubicon in comparison to Playa Blanca.

Playa Blanca is the perfect Family resort, no lager louts or anoying pavement crawlers trying to pull you into

every restaurant or bar you pass by, lets hope it stays like this!

Review by Robin Thompson from Stamford

Always liked going to Lanzarote and Playa Blanca is now our favourite resort on the island

Review by jason price from llanelli

Playa Blanca for me was a relaxing place to be as you could walk around the shops for an hour or so and then just walk straight on to beach and just switch off.The coastal path was great for a long walk or a run in my case.We had a day out on a boat trip but could have gone on a few more trips. We enjoyed the live music which was played in some of the pubs at night. To me if you want a relaxing no pressure holiday Playa Blanca is going to be hard to beat.

You know when you find your Eutopia, Playa Blanca is this to us. You work 48-50 weeks of the year and you need a break. P.B. is so chilled out. You have the harbour with the ferry and then on to the prom with the sea swishing against the sea-wall and the prom is there and all the restaurants are just lined up along the way. You have a big choice of restaurants to go into, but we found our favourite three years ago and go there each time was visit - Ricon Playa. You have a good choice of menu, reasonably priced and you can sit and eat and watch the last ferry come into port. We used to go on to other bars, but this year we just chilled out there with coffee's & brandies and then went back to our beds when they were closing (didn't chuck us out, but we were the last ones in there!) so you got the hit.

We visit other countries, sometimes far afield, but we still come back to P.B. at least once a year. We love it.

Playa Blanca is a well laid out resort which is great for familes. Generally quiet although it has a small old town with a good selection of tourist shops, bars & restaurants so ideal if you don't want to be to far from it all. The new marina is the upmarket end of the town and great for a walk. People all very friendly, and with the benefit of a hire car driving and gettting around is very easy. A very pleasant resort and ideal for a weeks break getting away from it without being too far from civilisation!

Review by member Purvis from Bristol

Playa Blanca is a really friendly place and we felt it to be very safe for families. It is a place with beautiful beaches and perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday. It is also uncrowded and without drunken youths unlike many other resorts.

Review by Joan clarke from Dublin

We enjoyed strolling along the promenade most evenings to Marina Rubicon taking in the magnificient views across to Fuerteventura. We sampled most of the restaurants there.

Review by Felicity Gallie from Tadworth

We loved playa blanca. It is a great family resort with enough restuarants and bars to give you lots of choice without being overdone. We felt it was a bit more up market than some of the other canaries resorts. There was a really relaxed family atmosphere and all of the restuarants welcomed babies and children. The beaches in the nature reserve at Papayago gave us a great chance to see some of the unspolilt parts of the island. It has lots to offer and we will definately be back!

Review by BRIAN WATKINS from CHELTENHAM

Playa Blanca is a lovely resort. Lots of good bars, shops and restaurants and a beautiful beach. The age group is more for the 35-upwards, so if you're looking for lots of nightclubs and a rowdy time this isn't the place for you.

Review by Ged Hogan-Buckley from Perth

Thoroughly enjoyed Playa Blanca, something for everyone there and very reasonably priced from eating out to buying those duty free goods.

Marina Rubicon well worth a visit.

Just a great resort all in all.

Review by Zoe Denton from Wakefield

Playa Blanca is a typical lanzarote resort. It has a great balance of shops, amusements, bars and restaurants. It is less crowded than Puerto del Carmen and has more atmosphere than Costa Teguise. There are plenty of places to eat and the food is generally very nice and reasonably priced. The beaches are golden and pretty and quite clean, we found that there were cigarett butts in the sand which was a pity as otherwise they were really lovely. There is a regular ferry service to the neighboring island of Furteventura if you fancy exploring. All in all we found Playa Blanca a great resort for families (we have three children under 4) and would definately like to return in the future.

Review by Maureen Taylor from blackburn

Love Play Blanca. The old world harbour at one end and the new up-market marina at the other.

Review by Simon Blower from Shrewsbury

Playa Blanca was an excellent resort, very friendly with a nice beach between the old harbour and the new marina. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from which are all very friendly with varied menus. The walk between the old harbour and the new marina is very picturesque, very clean and well maintained. The area is obviously being developed very tastefully without being too commercialised. We will definately be back next year for a winter break as it is not too busy and very child friendly.

Review by Elizabeth Dalziel from Galashiels

Playa Blanca is a very pretty holiday destination we were pleasantly surprised how neat and tidy everywhere was, infact we feel like that about the whole of Lanzarote. My husband and I visited Lanzarote several years ago and were quite surprised by how much all the resorts had expanded in this time but more so by the fact that all the new build and obviously the increase in population/visitors had not spoilt the overwhelming fasination the Island holds for us. Keep up the good work.

Review by lesley coyle from clydebank

playa blanca is a very pretty resort. the town beach & surrounding rocks are lined with restaurants and very little space seperates you from the sea. dining with the sound of waves lapping into shore is idyllic. the restaurants are a bit pricier that other parts of the canaries, but the wine selection is far superior & ultimately you get what you pay for. There is also a tremendous variety of restaurants- italian, chinese, indian, japanese, mexican as well as spanish. The Rubicon Marina is incredibly stylish & well worth a visit. Lots of restaurants here too.

Review by SUSAN EATOCK from WIGAN

PLAYA BLANCA AS GROWN OVER THE YEARS WE HAVE BEEN GOING BUT IN A NICE WAY. IT HAS NOT BEEN SPOILED. YOU CAN WALK ALONG THE PROMENADE FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER STOPPING FOR A DRINK OR SOMETHING TO EAT. THE SHOPS ARE LOW KEY. IT IS A PLACE FOR EVERYONE BUT NOT FOR THE ROWDY. JUST IDEAL.

Review by Jenny Barlow from South Woodham Ferrers

Playa Blanca gives the best of many worlds. You can go clubbing and enjoy the bars but you can also eat in lovely Spanish restaurants and find good tapas and enjoy a very laidback holiday if you want to. If you try to speak Spanish, people are very kind and encourage you to learn rather than laughing at your mistakes!
