This was our 3rd visit to Praia da Luz, because we like it there very much. We love the beach there and the restaurants, especially Fortaleza and A Concha and when we stayed at the beach we had a very good lunch in the Lazuli Bar or in Paraiso on the beach.
Praia da Luz is very nice to stay, because it is very central. In 10 minutes you are in the beautiful town of Lagos with the Marina. You can go either to Sagres or to Monchique and it is all nearby.
In Lagos you can do so much and there are so may nice restaurants as well
We think the people are very friendly and it is very clean everywhere.
We'll be back again.

Praia de Luz is a lovely resort. At times quiet, others just enough people to give it a b uzz. The town itself provides everything we needed, good restaurants and bars friendly people and a great 'prom' for the evening stroll! Great beach and the sea is clean good enough to swim.

Praia da Luz was exactly what we wanted from a relaxing week away. Small, not too busy, (although it was late in the season), restaurants, a few pubs and shops. Clean and quiet.

Nice selection of restaurants and beach within easy walking distance - supermarkets handy

My first time here and it was fabulous. It met all our needs and was one of the most relaxing holidays I have ever had !

The walk to and from Burgau every morning-there is no better way to start a day.

I have been visiting Praia da Luz since I was 3 years old although this visit was my first for 6 years and my first as a parent myself. Once a small quiet fishing village it is now geared more towards the tourist market. This is not necessarily a bad thing as it now has all the amenities you need and plenty to keep you occupied.
Having grown up on Portuguese food I recommend trying the O Poco and A Concha on the sea front. Both of which serve top quality traditional Algarvian food. The Paraiso on the beach is also an excellent spot to have lunch or an evening meal. All the restaurants in Luz are family friendly but larger families may have to reserve tables at peak season.
The beach at Luz is beautiful but can get crowded, especially at the weekends. For those hiring a car, the beach at Burgau (4km to the west of Luz) is less crowded and has an excellent beach bar serving food and drink most of the day and night.
4km East of Luz is the busy fishing town of Lagos which offers shops, watersports, boat trips and a lively nightlife. The Algrave luckily hasn't got an 18-30 culture but there is plenty to keep all ages happy.
I would thoroughly recommend Praia da Liz to anybody, especially families. It is such a shame that the events of three years ago have given this destination a very ill-deserved reputation. I plan to return with my wife and daughter as soon as possible.

Praia da Luz is an excellent resort for families of all ages and travellers looking for a easy paced, enjoyable holiday. With great shopping and a fantastic beach within walking distance this resort I guarantee will be hard to beat. Excellent area for golfers as many championship courses within short driving distance. All properties are low-rise so resort has remained unspoilt. A true gem!!!

Praia da luz is a lovely location for a relaxing, family holiday. Extremely friendly and helpful  locals and restaurants very childfriendly with a good selection of restaurants for the size of the area. Beautiful, clean beach. All amenities within walking distance, but has good bus service to other areas.

Place for a quiet holiday with a great beach to walk on.
Review by David Dakin from Kilbaha, Ireland
It is by far one of the safest family havens in Europe and the Portuguese people make it so.

Small village with enough but not too much!
Review by Bob McKay from Langley BC, Canada
This is a smaller town with all the amenities without the big town hustle & bustle but is within easy access to other locations along the Algarve by car or bus.
Review by Peter & Sheila Heath from Great Holland
Although it has expanded over the years it still maintains its welcoming family atmosphere.

Praia da Luz is clean and quiet, ideal for families with children of all ages. The beach has a good range of activities and there are many excellent restaurants.
Review by Arlene Allen from London
Luz just has that mix of tranquility, peacefulness and livliness along with an 'authentiic' Portugal feel to it with the town nestling under the glare of the old fort and sitting proud of the soft golden sands of the beach. The houses, although all very similiar in their briliant white stone lend themselves to this feeling of real charm and beauty. The quality and choice of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops make it impossible to choose but also seem too numerous for a lovely sleepy fishing village where the day- time and nightlife seem to be in perfect harmony offering something for everyone.

Praia da luz is the perfect place for a relaxed family holiday. It felt like home from home. There are a lot of English and Irish living in the area but I think this is what gives it that home from home feeling. The beach is beautiful not too busy, not too many noisy water sports and lots of Portugeuse people soaking up the sun. We ate in some wonderful restaurants but I think The Dolphin was our favourite for food, service and staff friendliness. We can't wait to return, we went with our 4 children and came back totally relaxed..must have been something in the air!!!
Review by Christine Griffiths from Mirfield
Luz was quiet, a good thing!! It was well provided for by supermarkets etc. Most of the restaurants were closed for the holidays but it wasn't a problem to us we tended to eat out at lunchtime wherever we were. The immediate surroundings are lovely, the beach is quiet and safe for supervised children. The beach bar is very good. There are a lot of English speakers in Luz but real Portugal is not far away. It is also very near to lots of places such as Lagos, Sagres etc. We enjoyed our winter holiday in Luz.
Review by Ian Harvey from Southampton
Excellent family resort. Beware if going in the summer months you have to book restaurants well in advance or face eating fish and chips...
Review by Maria Torrone from NYC
Smaller pubs and restaurants do not take credit card. Very heavy British contingency in Praia da Luz and many surrounding areas. Adjacent town of Burgau is a must see for it's charm, people, markets and scenery.
