Winter time on Rhodes!

turn the coldest time of the year into a warm experience..

Coming from a country with cold winters ourselves we know how to

appreciate the special charms of winter time in Rhodes, with

temperatures that allow you to enjoy outside life without getting cold

or wet. If you have the time and the opportunity to skip the cold

weather by leaving home during those miserable months, you should

definitely consider the option of spending your time on Rhodes.

Why?

Because Rhodes has plenty to offer in winter time! Here we go:

  • Let’s

start with the weather: Rhodes is situated on the same height as Africa

and has an average of over 300 sunny days a year! Just compare Rhodes’

average temperatures with those of Great Britain in the schedule given

    underneath.
  • And what to

think about the places that are very touristic during summer time? In

winter you can take the opportunity to visit all the cultural and

historical places of interest in a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.
  • Or

think about hiking or biking through the islands’ interesting and

diverse nature area’s! In the warmth of summer not the first thing that

pops up in your mind, but in the nice coolness of winter a perfect and

healthy way to spend your time and stay in shape. For the real sports

amongst us, even a jump into the sea might be considerable!
  • Rhodes

in winter time gives you a good look at the real Greek life. With

hardly any tourists around, it will be easy for you to mingle with the

Greeks and to share in their relaxed way of living. Although many

restaurants in the more touristic areas will be closed, the true Greek

taverns will be open and most villages are very lively. In Rhodes town

city life just goes on with its famous casino and many exquisite

    restaurants.

Review by Rick Marshall from Leamington Spa

Rhodes is moving away from the bad image it had of bars, noise and drunks, and is suceeding. In the two weeks we saw no bad behaviour anywhere.Once you spend time within the town you get to appreciate its huge history and and awesome wall and defences. You need to wander around early when the streets are empty to really see it, and to do that you need to stay in the town.Yes some of the shops are "tourist" but others do have some very good jewellery, clothes and materials. There are also some very good restaraunts with a variation on the usual Greek food, influenced by the Turkish and Italian culture.Of course the harbours are great to wander around and dream of owning some of the amazing boats there.

Review by R Burns from Milton Kenes

Rhodes Old Town is exciting and beautiful. You need to find out places where they don't charge an arm and a leg for a lemonade - 4 Euro for a tin of Fanta Lemon! - but there are a lot of good restaurants whose owners really make you feel special, as if all they want is not your money, but to make you happy and come again. It's a lot more exciting to travel inside the island and eat in tavernas of small villages where prices are a third and food is fresh and good, as they cook for people in the village who know them. A car and trips around the island is a must. Western side wilder and more charming, also quieter and more specific. Faliraki makes you forget completely where you are, whether it's Greece, Spain, anywhere where people come only for noise, drinking, clubbing and kitsch. There is so much culture, quality and history, it's a waste to do cheap holidaying... Do drive across the mountains, do stop and visit all the historical sites, do ride the donkey to Lyndos, it is 100% worth it.

Rhodes town has something for everyone, old and young alike. Plenty of nightlife bu this can be avoided if it's not what you want. Beautiful buildings and surroundings and guaranteed sunshine all day
