Side seems to be an ideal place for a Family holiday but it does in no way mean that it is not to be recommended to couples or groups because it offers something for every age group.

just think when you buy a car,you want everything at your finger tips or when you buy a house, you want everything within range of your home.side is a very nice place no matter what type of holiday you have imagined to have, side will provide this for you.watersports; lots of this on the fantastic beaches that side has.shopping;which a good percentage of people like doing.nice dinning;value for money meals.there is a mass variety of history of the town side and its surrounding areas which is today still evidentually visible today.presurvation of this old town is very well kept.side is set on the med coast, so the heat on this hooliday was very hot.it was not below 100 degrees at midday on the whole 14 days we were there.waterparks, quadbikes, jeep safaris day trips to pamukali baths, markets, you name it side can provide this.i have to say that we have travelled all over turkey for 15 years and this destination (side) is the only destination we have been too 3 times now,so i think this can tell you something,we are looking to book our holiday for nxt year so we can get the new addition to our family which is due in january used to turkey.

Side - we stayed on the outskirts of Kumkoy and enjoyed peaceful lazy days by the pool or sea and at night took cheap taxis to the interesting and scenic old Side harbour where we found good restaurants, beautiful harbourside views and fascinating historical sites. Turkey was most certainly not the bargain destination we had envisaged with drinks prices particularly higher than expected but restaurants were excellent and shops abundant though repetitive. We very much enjoyed our stay!

Having visited Side 3 years previously we did find that it had changed quite a bit. A little more expensive than last time BUT if you take the time you can still find good value for money  and some real Turkish hospitality.Very welcoming to children from babies to hard to please teenagers. A good destination for families. We are hoping to visit Side again in another 3 years as we like it so much.

IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO PARTNER WITH THE SHOP OWNERS ACROSS THE ROAD FROM AQUARIUS VILLAS TO ENSURE THEY ARE STOCKED WITH THE SORT OF THINGS SELF CATERING TOURIST MIGHT WANT FOOD WISE. IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR THEM TO HAVE A PROFILE WITH AQUARIUS SO GUESTS USED THEM MORE. WE GOT GREAT MEAT AND LIMITED FRUIT AND VEG THERE. HAD TO GO TO LOCAL MARKET TO GET MORE VARIETY OF FRUIT AND VEG ETC.

A beautiful place to visit with a lot of history and ruins scattered throughout the old town, the beaches vary in shingle to sand, quiet to busy. The locals are very welcoming and everything has to be haggled for, just be aware of the camel rides on the beach as for health and safety you are not advised how to sit and hold on for when they sit and stand as you are in Egypt and the people operating the rides seem to be slap happy in the whole set up, I saw a child fall off the camel because the young lad leading the animal was not strong enough to control it and the little girl - about 6yrs old - fell and injured herself so just stick to the organised excursions as there are many and are great fun especially white water rafting which is gentle enough for all ages to do and professionally run would go back

We stayed at Colakli, just outside Side.Nice and peaceful with fantastic beaches and friendly locals but only a short Dolmus ride to the hustle and bustle of Side.We always used the Dolmus(mini bus that you can get on or off anywhere)as the Taxis can be quite expensive. As other people stated,be wary of some of the restaurants....always make sure you know the price (in Turkish lira) before ordering.Having said that,if you dine away from the usual tourist traps you can be usually assured of cheap and friendly service. We can definately recommend Side and Colakli for a quiter base.

Side was quiet and most shops were closed and resturants quiet. This was because we went in January and that is also their winter.

We enjoyed the historic parts of Side, but our main bug bear was the hassle received when we visited the habour restaurant area in the Old Town from restaurants as we walked around. Some were really good value and had great food - other not so good. We left our recommendations in the folder in our apartment - so just be a little wary! Also, wine is very expensive.

Side is definitely a place to visit!

Side is a very nice area with lots of activities for everybody. It is a very clean resort where you feel safe. The quiter beaches are fantastic. People are very friendly and willing to help you with directions and recommend activities. Locals are also very good for giving you lifts to and from your base if you use their restaurant or even their bar on the beach! Haggling skills are a must and can be quite exhausting if you are not used to it. The Euro is very popular in Turkey which was a surprise to us. When visiting restaurants in busy upmarket locations, it is always good to check which currency menu's are priced in - we sometimes did not and paid more than we intended (prices were in Euros and not Turkish lira as we thought), however, these are things you learn! The longer weather window of Turkey is a major plus and we will definately be returning.
thanks
Regards
Margaret

Side is a beautiful historic beach town. Plenty of places to eat, nightlife in the beach bars. Beach has plenty of bars alongsde and watersports, it is safe for children. Interesting ancient ruins which are easily accessible. Side is also a shoppers paradise, every type of shop and also the market which is by the ruins. Plenty to do for all ages and interests.

I've been to Turkey many times but this was the first time in the Antalya area. The town iself can be expensive and a lot of the restaraunt owners won't take no for an answer. Be sure to know how much you're paying if you eat in the harbour area as it can be very expensive and cover and service charges can be added to the bill, despite what you are told. However if you wander down the side streets you can find many wonderful traditional turkish restraunts that offer excellent value for money. We took the little tractor train along to the market and it's really fun and cheap to give the kids a break whilst passing the ruins at the same time. Be prepared to haggle on prices as your bill can be sometimes halved for goods in shops and on excursions. I was delighted with the beaches and the free transfer to and from the beach was a real bonus, I also found the watersports to be more reasonable than other parts of Turkey.
Personally I love Turkey and for anyone that hasn't been you should give it a try.

side was a fantatstic family holiday. all the restaurants are very welcoming and love children. Hawaii was definately the best restaurant that we visited. it had entertainment on every night, the staff were extremely friendly, and the food was beautiful, but very reasonable. the beaches close by were busy but plenty of sunbeds to go around. there was water sports available at all the beaches, and free buses to and from the beach. would recommend to families with children of all ages( as long as you can cope with the hot summers!!) we are planning to book up for next year

This was our first visit to Turkey, and certainly won't be our last. Side was an excellent choice for us, it's very family orientated with wonderful, welcoming, hospitable, kind people. The shopping is plentiful in terms of leather goods, watches, jewellery etc, the sales people can be VERY persistent, so be firm if you are just browsing, and remember to haggle before purchasing.
The historic sites and unspoilt scenery is breathtaking and I cannot do it justice in words! Go visit!
Finally, take currency (lira or euros) the commission is quite steep for travellers cheques!

Side is an up and coming location. We stayed on the Antalya side of the penisula and could not fault the location. My wife and daughters found the persistance of the shop owners in the old town very offputting and this prevented them from shopping. The people at the Imparator Beach Bar made our holiday for us with their friendly helpfull attitude. We WILL be going back there and are even considering buying an apartment their ourselves

Side is a lovely part of Turkey, only a short distance from Antalya Airport. Very close to Manavgat Falls which are well worth a visit. The local markets are great for picking up a bargain or two. I would definitely recommend this area to anyone thinking of going to Turkey.
