Sintra is full of hidden secrets with its hillside forest full of atmospheric palaces and parks! Whether your interest is history, botany, landscapes or magnificant buildings, theres plenty to keep all ages happy for days, and all at remarkably reasonable prices.

Sintra is a charming historic town in Portugal. The locals are friendly and always willing to assist when asked. Sintra is beautiful and idyllic and definitely worth the visit.

Sintra is a great place, balanced on a number of hilltops, very picturesque and steeped in history with plenty of places to visit. There's even a decent modern art museum!

We spent most of our time in Azoia and would recommend the Refugio Restaurant in the centre of the village to anyone. The food was great and the patron and his staff were welcoming, friendly and went out of their way to please.

Sintra and Praia das Macas offer a good mixture of outdoor pursuits and nightlife in a pleasant environment.

An amazing area with numerous convenient destinations of interest. Castles, gardens, palaces, city charm, Sintra has it all. The area also has beaches and lovely little towns. A hit on all fronts!

sintra is the real Portugal, old & unspoilt with the most friendly of people. Some of the town is so old that wheelchair users may be restricted to the wonderful shops. Traffic is light & therfore is a delight for cyclists!!
The beaches & scenery beat the Algarve hands down.
Simply to good not to visit!!!

We loved the Sintra area. We had a great time, and thoroughly enjoyed travelling around the Sintra area. We had brought a GPS system with us and found that to be most helpful in negotiating our way around Portugal. Awesome experience to have been in the Sintra area. We loved it!

Sintra is beautiful and historic. If you're there for the history, you should be aware that there is very little information available in English, so do your own research before you go. Also, our car was broken into, and the police indicated this is not unusual. So, don't leave any valuables in your car!
