This part of Austria is quite simply stunning. It is safe, clean and the local people are very friendly and welcoming. There is a swimming lake close within easy walking/cycling distance. There are a couple of excellent restuarants in the village, again withing easy walking distance. Stadl an der Mur is in the cycle path which is suitable for all abilites of cyclist and is a fantastic way to see the country. It takes you along the river Mur, which is beautiful. There is also a local train station, which in my expereince is very prompt, in the summer once a week they run a steam train along this line - a must!!! Also within driving distance is Nocky Flitzer which is a tobogan run down a mountain - you must not miss this - what an incredible experience. This is not the kind of holiday where you are looking for things to do - you just have to work out what you can fit in whilist you are there!!! Highly Highly recommended!!!

Stadl is well placed for Kreischberg Ski resort. There are a number of good restaurants in the area. Murau has plenty of shops/supermarkets and is 10 minutes away.
The valley is beauiful, we had a great break. We took 3 small children on their first ski trip and they loved it. Hope to return in the summer to explore the region further.

If you're looking for a relaxing atmosphere, fresh air, nature, walks, skiing, good sleeps, to enjoy with your family, or with your partner, this is a thing to try. I found very well,I was disappointed only when I came back to Italy, 'cause the climate in Stadl is very healthy. The risk is you want to buy yourself one chalet!! Recommended
