Torviscas is a great location for families, couples and the younger generation. Its location is perfect for a great holiday in Tenerife. It is far enough from the main tourist area (Playa de las America) where the clubs and bars are situated but still has easy access to these if you fancy a night out! It is close to a variety of restaurants, ranging from traditional to more modern dining. One of our favourites was a pub called 'The Colonial' which is situated off the sea front in Fanabe where they served great food and offered good service.
It has great beaches which are not too busy and some beautiful scenery with views on the mountains, coasts and sea.
Perfect destination for people looking to get a taste of both the night life but also to have some time to relax, in Tenerife. It is peaceful enough to take some time out, relax and enjoy the sun, but also close enough to clubs and bars if you fancy a night out!

Torviscas is easily accessible with good public transport. The beaches are well placed and offer easy access for the disabled. There is a wide choice of restauraunts, bars and activities. There are a good range of shops from the humble supermarket to the upmarket designer fashion shops. Nightlife is very much family orientated in many bars and does not become rowdy. Peaceful nights are there for those wishing a less lively atmosphere. It is very much a place for couples, families and the seniors. Water Parks are close by. From Torviscas the energetic can walk for miles along the coastline or can catch a bus to explore the hill towns to experience a more authentic Canarian way of life.
All in all a sound choice for those wishing to be away from the head on, in your face nightlife and crowds of Las Americas.
For those who are thinking of visting Tenerfe for the first time and are worried about tales of rowdy, drunken behaviour Torviscas is a good place to start.

This is probably one of the best apartments I have ever stayed in, it was so well equipped it was like taking your own home with you! The large balcany to the front (it has a side one also) is the most fantastic sun trap so if you are fed up with staying around the pool you can still get a tan and keep your eye on the kids in the pool.
The whole site is clean and very friendly well worth a visit!

Alot of people i have spoke to have been to tenerife not wanting to return until i tel them about this area. It is so family friendly and relaxing whilst being only a short taxi ride away from the more lively las americas if you fancy a change of pace. Everything is spotlessly clean from the beaches to the bars/resteraunts and even the pavements. with live entertainment on in numerous child friendly bars even a 2wk holiday is not enough to see it all. Perfect beaches and lively waterparks, trips out to sea to see dolphins, leisurly strolls along the marina or even a trip up the mountains there is definately something here that keeps you coming back. try it, u wont regret it, for the last 7year i haven't!

Torviscas itself is a beautiful town, it has its share of Supermarkets, bar/restaurants, souvenir shops, the odd electrical shop, all wonderfully stocked, the beaches are very clean and very safe non of the beaches shelve away so they are perfect for the children, on the south west side of the island is where Torviscas is situated, the sand here is golden and black sand combined, a bit odd but when seen for the first time its really quite interesting. The people are very freindly and they all want to welcome you into there establishment, try not to let this annoy you (do like we did and just take it as a compliment) there are the odd people who are a bit pushy like the men that sell sunglasses on the beach, just tell them no thank you and they leave you alone. There are also the ones that try to give you scatch cards and tell you, you have won the jackpot! just tell them NO and walk away (its time share)
Every place has its pit falls but prodominantly Torviscas is well worth a visit.

It's the eleventh time I've been to Torviscas, so I must like something about it!

My wife and I have been coming to Torviscas in late January/early February for the past nine years. We have genarally found it to be freindly in the bars and shops etc. apart from the electronic/camera goods shops where it seems that all they are interested in is ripping people off. My advice to anyone would be, do your research for what you want at home prior to purchasing any goods from these retailers and know exactly what the value at home is and what you are prepared to pay otherwise give them a wide bearth, I am speaking from experience.
The ilegal black bar/street traders can be a source of fun and banter but there are far too many now which seem to form a procession and generally annoy. As do the timeshare touts, or what ever they like to be known as now, who can't seem to grasp what the words ''no thanks'' mean however, a lot of foreign resorts have these problems and it should not put people off.
Although a lot of new development has occurred in the years that we have been going to Torviscas, there are still areas that could benifit from a makeover/re-development , mainly the bar/resteraunt areas to the frontage of the Santa Maria Apart/Hotel, the old site of the outdoor market and some of the premises underneath the old market site.
The assortment of bars, cafes and resteraunts in town and around Porto Colom offer good value for money with a choice of menus to satisfy all tastes.
The recently completed roadworks are excellent with wide pavement areas stretching from the roundabout at San Eugenio shopping centre round to the roundabout at the edge of the Mare Verde complex.
One can easily walk between Torviscas and Fanabe, which itself has a selection of bar/cafe's/resteraunts facing the ocean.
To conclude, it is definitely a place I will return to.

Torviscas is a busy environment with lots of 'tourist' shops and lots of eateries along the beach front. A number of internet sources available but shop around as there can be a big difference in time/euro. Newer shops / hotels within walking distance (Fanabe) and not too far from Aqualand, Monkey Park and Playa del Americas.
Review by R Bonar from Donegal, Ireland
Torviscas is within easy walking distance to the main resort of Playa de las Americas but still has any amount of bars and restaurants and other amenities to keep anyone happy without having to travel more than a few minutes. A well paved promenade runs all the way to the next resort of Los Christianos.
