We really loved Trogir ! So picturesque, sitting on a tiny island, it's a web of quaint cobbled streets tucked securely behind medieval ramparts. Plenty of things to discover, from the schooners in the harbour and along the quay near the castle, to the tiny little paved squares in the heart of the historical centre, where miniature gardens hide and cats snooze in the morning sun. Excellent market from dawn to well past dusk on the mainland, bustling and colourful with plenty of tasty local produce. No real beaches in Trogir itself but plenty of sunbathing to be done on those lining the coasts of Ciovo. We stayed in Okrug Donjii, far enough from the hustle and bustle but only 10 minutes drive from the town centre (there's a regular bus service too). Trogir is also a good place from which to span out. The superb town of Split is only 40 minutes by car, the coast between Trogir and Sibenik is full of surprises : beautiful scenery and the tiniest, sweetest islands in the world ! We also drove to Krka National Park for a long walk amidst the waterfalls. Breathtaking ! Obviously quite a few people around in August (we experienced the odd traffic jam getting across to Trogir from Ciovo), but the town is still pleasant and surprisingly clean. We would definitely recommend Trogir if you're thinking of going to Croatia.

Trogir is a mini-city.

It's like an Umbrian city without the Italians :-)
