sleepy fishing village best describes trou aux biches, with a lovely beach the length of which we walked and on to the next beach, mont choisy, and from here window shopping along route royal into grande baie about 8kms. this is our 4th visit to Mauritius, the lack of tourists is noticeable, quite a few restaraunts have closed due to lack of customers. Hire a car,get around the island there is lots to see and do, you will need a road map. We are planning another visit to this paradise isle for next year. bob haworth

Trou Aux Biches is a friendly large village, with a range of shops and restaurants. The people are friendly and it feels very safe and relaxed. It does not have the bustle, street vendors or beggars that we experienced in Grande Baie further north. I can recommend the live music on Saturday nights at bar 1974 (on the site of the old aquarium), and the food at the Chinese restaurant above.

We enjoyed the watersports, first time "helmet " underwater diving on the sea wall, good experience, thank you.
