Troyan is the nearest town; it is actually rather scruffy and run down except for the area immediately around the main square. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however, as it is interesting to see how other people live. The property itself is in a small village called Terzisko. Very rural and quiet, it was fascinating to see the inhabitants go about their daily business: feeding their cow, scything grass, chopping wood ready for the winter. A very slow pace of life which we found relaxing. We had trouble finding our holiday property and a Bulgarian couple who spoke no English spent at least half an hour driving around asking people until at last they found it for us. They were so helpful and kind. Everybody was very welcoming and accepting, a tribute to the Bulgarian character.
