A lively resort suited to families. It has a large selection of restaurants, tavernas and typically touristy gift shops. Food is very reasonably priced and we did not have a bad meal throughout our stay, although we did find some lovely tavernas with good views a little way out of the main resort as well. At least one restaurent offers 'Greek Evenings', which are great fun if a little contrived. We frequented the 'Fresh and Warm' bakery during our stay, which sold excellent bread, yummy cakes including traditional Greek specialities and a good selection of icecreams. We also found an excellent butcher (useful if you are self catering), a good fruit shop and a host of supermarkets which provide all the basics that you might need.
There is an excellent, if somewhat pricey crazy golf and a couple of small arcades.
The beach has nice sand and shelves gently into the sea which was great for the children. However, although it was relatively quite when we went at the start of June much of the sand was taken up with sun beds and shades which were available to rent. We tended to make use of our rented car and headed for some of the quieter beaches a short distance from the main resort.
It is an ideal spot to explore the rest of the island from, since it is very central. We rented excellent accomodation just outside Tsivili and had a fantastic holiday. We would definately like to return.

Tsilivi is a small, but bustling tourist centre which sprawls across the sea-front towards Planos. In fact there is no divide betweeen the tow sites. If you're looking for quiet, traditional Greek island life, this isn't the place to go. That being said, the town offers a wide range of entertainment from brash, british style pubs to good quality coffee and ice-cream shops and everything in-between. Available food ranges from McDonalds, should you be desparate for a repeat of that Double Cheese Burger you had last weekend in dreary UK, to moussaka and souvlaki. We had the best chicken gyros pitta we've ever experienced in a small grill restaurant on the main road into Tsilivi - thats proper fast food!!
The locals are all friendly and without excpetion have a sufficient command of English to help in most situations. In particular the taxi drivers are a font of knowledge that really should be tapped into.
We found the beach a great place for safe swimming with only occasional strong currents and with the sea-front gently shelving its a particularly safe environment for children - keep an eye on the lilos though!!
A great place to go to unwind if you're based a little way out of town, but mostly its a bustling mini-Blackpool with all that that brings.
