A really peaceful, relaxing and scenic village is Uzumlu. Can't wait to go and stay in Uzumlu again. Made lovely friends who we will keep in touch with.

Review by Maxine Shergold from Knaphill, Woking

Uzumlu is a traditional Turkish village with a small ex-Pat community. Few shops and local restaurants, there absolutely nothing touristy about it at all. Nice and peaceful, the real Turkey.

Review by Helen Peters from Penrith

Uzumlu is a charming village set on a plain surrounded by incredible mountains. At 500 metres above sea level it is slightly less hot than the coastal resorts and benefits from a lovely breeze most days. The village itself, although home to a significant number of foreign-owned villas, still manages to maintain its character as a real Turkish working village. It is surrounded by very fertile agricultural land and staying there you are conscious of the daily/seasonal rhythms of rural life: the goats being taken out to graze each morning and being taken home at night; crops being gathered and transported either by tractor or donkey; lush kitchen gardens supplying individual needs for fruit, vegetables, vines and olives. The village has a wonderful bakery selling delicious fresh bread and other shops can supply all basic needs. There is a small market on Fridays which is good for fresh produce. There are several restaurants and simple eating establishments in and around the village, so it isn't necessary to go further afield for a meal out. The outskirts of Fethiye are reached in approximately 15 minutes and excursions can be made quite easily from Uzumlu. Although there are dolmuses, car hire is really needed to get the most out of the area.

Uzumlu........Must be one of the best kept secrets of this stunning coastline........Get in before its discovered by the crowds

Review by Richard Bowyer from Rochester

Hi all Uzumlu is a quiet very rural village high in the hills above Fetihye. It still maintains all of its local culture ,but also has some restaurants and bars scattered through it , but not to many to spoil the location.

set high up and surrounded by Fir and pine trees ,the air and the scenery is something not to missed.

Nothing you need is to far away by a simple twenty minute car ride. If you want a holiday to relax and not be pestered by the normal holiday annoyences but want to be in easy reach of history culture and beaches then Uzumlu is for you .

Many Thanks

R. Bowyer

Uzumlu is one of the lovelliest villages I have been to on holiday, the people are friendly and were always helpfull, the village is unspoilt and rustic with beautiful surroundings, the mountains as you drive in or out are spectacular, it's the perfect place if you just want to unwind.

Review by Paul Sanders from Lindford, England
