Bulgaria is a great country and Veliko Tarnovo is a great location. It has everything from great shops to great food, great views and lots of history and interesting places to visit within a short distance. We have been there three or four times and are planning to go back again later on in the year. The people are so friendly and helpful, and we have never had any problems out there. The food in the resturants is great value but do remember that you will get large portions and not to go mad when ordering because you will have lots left over! Lots of great places to visit nearby for example Elena and Tryavna are two lovely old towns with lots to see. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

Veliko Tunovo i love ,i have holidayed there eight times in the past three years.ive been all over bulgaria.Veliko Turnovo has everything great restaurants, the food is out of this world and very cheap.very historic, quaint cobble streets and good shopping.there is a new mall, cinama, bowlling alley.everything you could need.very clean and the people are realy nice.most of the restaurants have a english menu.it has a nice park with water fountains, lots of nite clubs for the younger ones, streight and gay .well recommended.

Veliko is a combination of old and new.Historic culture mixed with a vibrant community.Throw in breathtaking scenery, and we have Veliko Turnovo.

Veliko Turnovo is a wonderful place to visit. It is a city of contrast, full of history and culture but also modern and exciting. The main street is full of the most wonderful shops stocked with a huge array of goods and tucked away up a side street is the old part with cobbled streets and shops selling a range of handmade crafts.
With 2 universities in the city, there is a large student population but not once have we seen any fighting, drunken people or any trouble of any sort, neither have we ever felt threatened whilst out in the evenings.
We have visited Turnovo 3 times now and still havent seen all there is to see.
Three words sum up Turnovo for us, beautiful, vibrant and cheap....well worth a visit!
