Travel Reviews : Yalikavak

Review by Frances King from Plaistow

Yalikavak is just one of the towns scattered around Bodrum Peninsula, I love it beacause it has everything, great views, good facilities, market, lovely retaurants. Some of the other villages are too small or too expensive, this is my all round favourite spot on the peninsula , and not too far to drive to Bodrum

Review by Fiona Rushforth from Chester

Variety of good restaurants - especially for fish. Lovey scenery as lots of restaurants are on edge of sea. Small supermarket - better ones out of town. Good boat trips from here. Shops good for browsing

Review by Melanie Brown from Guildford

Yalikavak is a family friendly resort that is relaxed and charming, a cooling sea breeze enables comfortable sunbathing, fishing and walking around the small town. Restaurants are plentiful and of high quality, too many to recommend and mostly everyone we came across from restaurants to shops were friendly and helpful. There are parks and facilities even ice skating (at a very reasonable price) available for children to enjoy. A thoroughly enjoyable resort for all to enjoy.

Review by member Nash from Lurgan

An absolutely beautiful, charming marina town with fabulous restaurants, quaint shops and very friendly people.

Review by Penny Tripp from Newbury

A delightful small turkish town - lots of very reasonable restaurants to choose from and fabulous fresh fish brought in daily. Buzzy and fun in the evenings but not noisy. Good family destinantion.

Review by Rima Proudfoot from Northampton

Yalikavak is very family orientated with lots of restaurants in the town as well as by the sea. Good shopping facilities, very clean if not a little smelly how and again with the odd wiff of drains. Caters for the rich Turkish as well as the man on the street. People are nice and Friendly but some can be a bit pushy when trying to get you into with their restaurants especially in the port and Gumusluk which is very pretty. The coastline in this area is stunning and I would love to visit again. Car recommended lots of pretty places to visit.

Review by Carron Hart from Warminster

We really enjoyed strolling around this delightful village. The people were very welcoming and friendly and the food at the numerous restaurants varied and deliscious. It appears to be as popular with the Turkish people as the overseas visitors. Children are adored by the Turkish people and made a lot of fuss over.

Review by Elaine Roberts from Leicester

We found Yalikavak a very friendly town. It was quite quiet as we there out of season but the bustling market was really interesting. Some of the restaurants were still closed but those open were fantastic and good value. Yalikavak caters for tourists but does not have big hotels and is not full of loud bars and English pubs. Perfect!

Review by member Bray from Devon

Yalikavak is a lovely, small and friendly town with wonderful restaurants and a quiet, sandy beach. It offers a good mix of quality restaurants for holidaymakers whilst still retaining its orginal Turkish charm. Ideal for a quieter, more upmarket holiday. The new marina and shops have the potential of making Yalikvak a very exclusive place to stay.

Review by member Sweeney from Horwich

Yalikavak is a fabulous place for a family holiday, especially for parents with younger kids. The town is lively enough without being over run and noisy. There are loads of restaurants, with a choice of a different one each night if required with still many not visited! It's also close enough to livlier places such as Bodrum, with good bus services, if required. To sum up; a fabulous place in a lovely country.

Review by Gillian Rogers from West Molesey.Surrey

We loved this little town. There was lots to do both day and night and the children were delighted with trampoline and little rides along the seafront. The Marina is a must with its smart restaurants and Art shops and there is a really good market all day on a Thursdays. We booked a boat trip, which was really good value. It left Yalikavak at 11am and returned at 5pm.We had a very good lunch, fresh fruit, and afternoon tea,on board and there were several stops for swimming in the sea,all for under £25.pp

A friendly bustling little harbour town.

A friendly bustling little harbour town.

Review by member Cotterell from London

The town is small and friendly and still relatively authentic, you can see the Turkish families going about their everyday business. Some over anglicised restaurant menus, but mostly the food was lovely. Beaches are not that white fluffy sand, but plenty of places to lounge about and the nature reserve of Kudur is beautiful.

Review by Chris Boyd from Poulton-;e-Fylde

Yalikavak is a quiet village on the north coast of the Bodrum peninsula, a scenically beautiful, unspoiled part of Turkey with the most stunning sunsets. It’s about 30 minutes drive from the airport, not on a flight path yet only a short transfer. The weather is very warm with a cooling breeze across the peninsula so it is always comfortable. The locals are friendly, generous people who welcome visiting tourists. This area is renowned for its beauty and tourists from Istanbul and even Prince Charles visits the area rather than the ‘typical’ tourists. It is an area for a relaxing holiday rather than a busy resort but there are livelier places within a few minutes driving distance if you feel the need. There are several interesting sites of archaeological and geological interest within easy reach and many good restaurants locally with excellent food at very reasonable prices.

Review by Pam Davis from Wirral

Yalikavak has breath taking views of the coast on the Bodrum peninsuler. Its peope are helpful and friendly

It has great resturants on the beach front and marina .

Review by Robert Taylor from Manchester

The best holiday place ever. Great for couples and familis. A village that has values and is continually trying to set them. Unspoiled area, no rowdies. Improves and develops whilst maintaining its culture. Harmonious to its environment. Always attracts your discerning tourist. Offers value for money and quality services with an ever welcoming smile. True turkish hospitality at its best without any harrassment. A delightful place with a new adventure and view around every corner. Can't rate it highly enough.

Review by Craig Andrews from kirkham Preston

This place is heaven on earth and is the place to go for a wonderful holiday whatever your age. Its relaxing and tranquil with scenic views but not too far from places for the more active. I have been to many places but can say I feel at home there. I can think of nowhere else I would rather be and willl definitely be booking again for next year. This is one of the few places that exceeds expectations after reading guide books and holiday brochures. This is definitely the 'Turkish Riviera' . One can see that Yalikavak is improving its facilities almost daily and the locals can't do enough for visitors. Definitely a place to visit time and again.

Review by John Dodshon from Colchester

Yalikavak is a very freindly town you can at a differant restaurant every night, during our stay we didnot hear a bad comment from the various people we met. Qutie few people travaled to Yalikavak from other resorts every day(Bodrum) the of the relaxing / friendly atmosphere.

Review by Jason Edwards from Bispham

Yalikavak is definitely an upcoming town, you can tell this by how clean it is, and by all the central pavements and roads being block paved, and there being lots of floral arrangements. They are also building a new golf course within 20 minutes drive.

Review by Lynzi Lowe from Bispham

An amzing small village where locals are very friendly and helpful. Lots of choices for restaurants. Great beach and sailing facilities. The whole of the village was very clean; the council appears to have spent lots of money in making sure the pavements and block paved roads enhance the 4 mile promenade round the bay. A truly amazing village that is obviously setting itself to be the upmarket resort of the Bodrum penninsula.

Review by Mike Clark from Walton on Thames

Lovely old fishing village with excellent supply of restaurants, etc

Review by Mark Stevens from London

Yalikavak is one of the nicest coastal villages on the whole Bodrum peninsula. Excellent supply of restaurants and bars without being overcrowded or too busy in any way. Ideal place to chill out whereas Bodrum town is more for younger people wanting all night entertainment.

Review by Alison Harries from Blackpool

YALI provides everything you require for a DREAM RELAXING holiday.

Review by member Harries from Blackpool

Yalikavak is a stunning resort with excellent deep blue clean seas. It retains its cultoral values, whilst providing tourists with a flavour of the 'best of Turkey'.
