On arrival in Spain & driving through Benidorm & Calpe with their high rise appartment blocks & hotels towering in front of you, it's hard to imagine that just along the coast is Buenavista, beautiful villas, set into the hillside, giving amazing views of the surrounding hills & wonderful sea views. Each villa has individual character, beautiful stonework & statues,pools which glisten in the sun. The gardens, full of interesting plants, ranging from large, wierd & wonderful cacti to the very pretty bougainvillias, masses of flowers, giving colour & contrast against the whitewash, all this under a canopy of pine trees, giving a very tropical feel. The villas are most certainly looked after with pride, nothing in this area could possibly be referred to as an eyesore....... but if you do come across an overgrown, rather neglected villa, you begin to dream of how you could return it to its former glory & what life in Buenavista could be like for you.........that's just how captivating this place is. It is a peaceful, relaxing area, not isolated in any way, just far enough away to switch off, slow down & enjoy.......... ... more
