Review by Barbara from Connellsville PA USA Colonial Quito! A neat place to stay if you don't want to be in a typical city atmosphere. We were in Quito 24 years ago, and we were amazed at how it has changed. The Old Town is clean and safe. Lots of plazas for just sitting and watching the Ecuadorian world go by. There are a few nice cafes, particularly in Plaza San Francisco, and some great little restaurants, often hidden in side streets and out of the way places. Plaza Grande beautiful, with flowering trees and fountains. There were very few tourists here, so you don't feel as though you are "one of the herd." If you start hankering for the bustling city, you can always take the trolley (25 cents) or a cab to the new city.
Review by Debra from Sarasota, Florida This is an amazing city. There is so much culture and history. The architecture is very beautiful. I live in South Florida and was not expecting to see palm and magnolia trees in a mountain setting. What a pleasant surprise. It is extremely safe. When wandering about the city during the day, there are police "walking thier beat". I love everything about Quito!
Review by morrie from austin This place has it all- two blocks from the Grand Plaza in the most beautiful, historic part of town. The best of the old, a colonial building, and the new, a striking architecturally compelling, modern apartment.
Review by Paula from Dundas Colonial Quito preserves the architectural and cultural feel of days-gone-by. The vital history of Quito is still alive in the Colonial District where small shops, museums and breath-taking cathedrals line brick-paved streets. Indigenous Ecuadorians co-exist with Spanish influences to integrate cultural history through numerous family business enterprises of textiles, jewelry and cuisine. Colonial Quito is metropolitan while preserving the tapestry of historic cultures. It is inexpensive to visit but offers a rich experience and a vast reserve of pleasant memories.
Review by Loretta from Wilmington north carolina Colonial Quito was reminded me of Rome Italy and also of Spain without the high prices. It beautiful and authenic and well worth the trip.
