This is a fantastic area to explore if you like nature, quiet and great hiking. The little perched medieval villages are each unique and worth exploring. There are several gorges to drive through and hike through. We had a fantastic hike along the gorge near the village of Quinson. It is a loop so you get a good variety of terrain. We cooked all of our own meals so I couldn't comment on the restaurant selection, although, some of the towns had several to choose from. Our favorite towns were Bauduen, Moissac le Bellvue, Moustier and Trigance. You definitely need a car to properly explore the area, and be prepared to drive many very winding and narrow roads! But, the views are worth it!
