Review by Nicola from Glasgow La Perla de la Heredia instantly impresses on arrival with the beatiful variety of colourful villa's, and the hillside location allows fantastic views across the mediterranean to Morocco. And first impressions were not disappointed, after being welcomed and showed to the villa, which was perfect, spacious, pretty and comfortable - we felt at home immediately, went a wander around the village, amazed at the gardens and villas as they were so pretty! There is a restaurant in the village which we did not manage to attend however from the noise when you walked past, there was a lot of happy customers and the place is open for breakfast lunch and dinner until around 1am. There are also two communical pools with beautiful views, which are kept in beautiful condition and were very peaceful when we were there. Unless you intend to stay within the village for a relaxing holiday, I would say it is essential to hire a car (we used malagacar.com - recommended). We did, and visited central Marbella many times, the fiesta festival in San Pedro which was a lot of fun, Puerto Banus and the old spanish town of Ronda. Other options we didnt pursue were visiting Gibralter, Seville or Morocco, however they are certainly within easy distance in a car. The roads were very good, modern and the local drivers weren't as crazy as we had been led to believe!
If you are looking to be in a lively hotel next door to clubs and pubs then this is not the place for you, however if you want the best of both worlds, i.e. a bit of luxurious comfort to come home to and relax in, with fantastic shops, clubs and pubs, and places of historical interest less than 10 minutes away then I would highly recommend La Perla de la Heredia. ... more
