Review by Ann from Glasgow A great place if you enjoy golf; the golf course is lovely. The Miraflores club house is also a great place to eat; the food and service is good and reasonably priced, especially te Sunday carvery where the meat is gorgeous. The complex itself is very nice and well-kept but it is very hilly and steep, so a car would be essential. Taxis are expensive, but from the main road a good bus service runs to Marbella in one direction and Fuengirola in the other, taking about 30 mins.
Review by Matthew from Chef Boutonne, France Staff around the site very welcoming and helpful. Not much to do for the children but the beach is only a short walk away and access to the coast.
Review by Philip from Weston-super-Mare Miraflores offers you the opportunity to be located in an area that is accessible for the whole of the Costa del Sol. While the locality and layout appears cramped and intensely populated with apartments. It was never overcrowded. The Golf Club has an excellent restaraunt and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Review by T from Braintree Miraflores, not yet finished so still a number of building sites on the horizon, though it appeared that all work had stopped at these sites. The area has been flooded with low cost construction over the past few years. Mainly apartment blocks with some townhouses and villas. There is very little trace of Spain in the area. Many pubs and restaurants have been set up within the residential area and outside. Some of these are disguised as "Irish Bars". Many of them are now the worse for wear and as the area appears to be struggling financially, with what appears to be about half the properties empty and for sale and to let signs springing up everywhere on a daily basis, it is clear to see the beginning of what will happen if all maintenance on new builds and facilities serving them ceases or slows considerably. A chat with a local estate agent gave me the understanding that the property market had slowed almost to a stop due to the negative change in the currency rates for UK visitors and now with the UK housing market teetering on collapse the future for property in the area looked very bleak. During the day the supermarkets and mini supermarkets seem to compete with the ocean front for visitors. After seven pm the areas around the bars and pubs in many locations begins to resemble Barnsley on a rough Saturday night, (yes I have been to Barnsely on a rough Saturday night and I wouldn't go back). It does appear that the nightlife attracts those families who are happy to drink constantly throughout the evening while their children roam around unsupervised. Almost everywhere the facilties are English speaking and while this is convenient for English visitors it means that one of the interesting parts of visiting another country is lost. In one establishment I was struggling to speak with a shop assistant in broken Spanish while she was being very polite and patient with me and seemed to genuinley appreciate my attempts to use her language. A gentleman clearly from one of our northern towns barge in front of me and the others at the desk to demand information on a pair of shoes, making no attempt to speak English, there was no thankyou offered by him in any language and sadly I found him to be the normal rather than the exception. If you want to see the English visitors in another country acting in an arrogant and rude manner and demonstrating all the unsavoury aspects of the UK's drinking culture this is definitely a good place to visit. I felt very sorry for the Spanish residents in the area, who with the UK expat community are now facing dificult financial times which is reflected in the increased costs of all items with a definite lowering in service and quality in various facilities. We had to pick very carefully our locations for use of a beach or a restaurant. We found La Calla to be reasonably quiet, the beaches clean and the restaurant largely untouched as yet by rowdy visitors, though even here the financial squeeze is becoming evident. A visit this year might be ok, but I wouldn't think of going back until our housing market picks up and or the exchange rate improves in the pounds favour. ... more
