Review by James from Bradford Ostuni and the surrounding area has quite a variety of different countryside ard towns. The people are generally very friendly and helpful. It is an area to chill out in, relax and go with the flow. In the peak of the Italian holiday season (August) Ostuni itself is quite vibrant in the evenings with a wide range of restaurants and bars and the old town is not to be missed.
Review by Ceri from Chester Ostuni is an authentic, bustling city in the heart of Puglia. Whilst the new part of town is not expecially picturesque, it offers excellent shopping for fish, fruit and veg, salamis and cheeses and local wines. The traffic is crazy, as is Italian driving, but you can soon adapt! The old town of Ostuni is breathtaking. Ancient and unspoilt, and almost completely self-contained, the streets are a maze of cafe bars, boutiques, olive oil specialists, wine sellers and restaurants. All this is mingled with stunning apartments reached by narrow stone streets and all overlooking the beautiful Puglian coastline. A great base for exploration, with wonderfully friendly people, Ostuni is well-worth a visit. For a quieter stay, there are some excellent places just outside Ostuni itself, and it is easily accessible by car from Bari and Brindisi airports.
Review by Kathryn from Dalry Ostuni in February was quiet and peaceful. Most of the buzz came from the local people just going about their daily business. The old centre of Ostuni is atmospheric and interesting, and the people were friendly and helpful. It is quite near the coastline, with beaches that obviously will attract tourists in the summertime. However, for us the real interest lies in studying the local way of life, the pace of living, the agriculture, and the rythymns of the seasons. I was impressed by the many very twisted and ancient olive trees in the area. Also the quality and value of locally available fruit and vegetables was exceptional.
