We went to Porto, solely to see our son who is working there and were very pleasantly surprised. although the weather was unseasonably wet, we found plenty to do for 7 days. this included train trips, tram rides, boat trips, walks in beautiful parks, the fabulous modern art museum, great bars and restaurants and the fascinating waterfront areas. the airport is modern, uncrowded and efficient and the transfer to the city on the modern metro system was simple and cost less than 2 euros. the city is very picturesque, being sited up both sides of a gorge and well worth a visit.

Porto is still a bit of an undiscovered gem. There is something for everyone, wether you are on your own, a couple or a family. The Portuguese love children and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. There is a huge selection of reastaurants and when one has finished eating there are salsa bars and jazz clubs within easy walking distance of the apartment. There is an excellent Metro system, making travel to and from the airport extremely easy. Porto is definitely worth a repeat visit.
