The Pyrenees Atlantique is an area of rough natural beauty. If you are a sports fan you can visit the wild beaches of Biarritz and Bayonne for body-boarding, surfing, jumping the waves or an exhilerating stroll. The traffic in the summer can be rather slow, so try to avoid peak times. Hossegor has a wonderful beach and its worth walking or driving a few hundred metres beyond the main beaches to find quieter areas which are still surveyed due to the strong currents and high waves. Youll also find specialist ice-cream shops and restaurants offering a splendid Plateau fruits de mer, if you enjoy oysters, mussels...

The regional wines can be surprisingly smooth and the Brebis cheeses a wonder to the palate, varying in strength and hardness, and made on local farms.

One of the most wonderful relaxing holidays ever, the countryside is totally unspoilt, I did notice there was not many pesky flies about either and the weather was glorious sunshine till well into the evening. I cant wait to book another holiday in France.
