we had a really great holiday the apartment was excellent a lot larger than the pictures show and we could not have asked for nicer hosts very hospitable and made us feel very welcome.



the town has many different things to see and do with the added bonus of 2 lovely beaches within a stones throw of the apartment, we also found that there was lots to places to visit in the local areas which are all easily accessed by bus or train.



we went with the ideal holiday being able to relax and experience something traditional, we got this and more, children are welcome everywhere which made this ideal for us.

Viana do Castelo is a charming little town with just the right mix of shopping and culture. The market on Friday is worth experiencinng for its hustle and bustle. Taking the ferry across the Lima from Darque is a fun way to arrive. The people of Viana are extremely friendly and helpful.

Viana do Castelo is an extremely interesting place to visit. There has obviously been a lot of work done to make the town people friendly and it has been a major success. The town planners should be held shoulder high and applauded for their foresight. English town planners should be taken there and shown how things can be done if you apply VISION!

Within minutes from the town there are some superb unspoilt beaches where once again the planning has been superb with walkways down to the beach and along the length of the beach to aid conservation and for the convenience of those using the area.

The local people are very friendly and helpful and the staff within the tourist information are extremely good.

The transport links are excellent with bus and train services. This also extends to the ferry transport from Viana town across the river to the superb beaches of Cabadello is serviced by a regular ferry service. All in all Viana do Castelo is a real surprise package. For anyone needing to relax, recharge their batteries or conversely have a really active break participating in sea sports and beach walks then this is the place for you.

It's a wonderfully healthy environment to spend your holidays.

Viana Do Castelo is the perfect base for exploring Northern Portugal. Quite beaches, watersports and restuarants that offer great value for money. Relax with a cold beer or a glass of the local wine while admiring the wonderful ocean views. The town of Viana is a busy centre with shops and many historic sites. For those without a car, the local bus service goes to all the surrounding towns and villages. Infact, the bus is a great way to tour northern Portugal.

The town of Viana Do Castello is a perfect place to experience Northen Portugal. The town itself has many important historic buildings together with modern shops and supermarkets. Take the trainride up the mountain to the church of Santa Lucia and experience the breathtaking views of the bay and Lima estuary. Explore miles of interesting coastline or head inland along the beautiful Lima valley.

If sport's your thing then there's Windsurfing, Fishing, Golf and much more. Viana Do Castello has got it all and you'll want to return again and again.
