Review by Kirstine from Edinburgh Villajoyosa is a beautiful town ideally situated approximately 30 minutes drive from Ailcante. It offers visitors a true taste of Spain and is as yet unspoilt by tourism. There are a number of superb restaurants offering a range of cuisine from tapas to Chinese. The town is an excellent base to explore the surrounding area with no need to hire a car as the local coastal tram line passes through town, taking you from Alicante to Denia. The main beach in Villajoysa is incrediably pretty and is lined with colourful town houses making it unique and very picturesque. If you are looking for a relaxing break then this is definately the place for you.
Review by Jan from Chatham The last time we went to Villajoyosa was fourteen years ago so we were interested to see how much it had changed - the answer - hardly at all. It is still mostly Spanish and very laid back and you soon get into the way of life. We experienced the start of the Moors and the Christians Festival - wow it was spectacular! Something not to be missed if you get the opportnity. We realised how much we had missed going there and are already trying to book for next year.
Review by Ron from Blackpool Villajoyosa, or La Vila Joiosa as the locals call it, is a charming jewel of a town set on the edge of a safe sandy beach. It's just a 40 drive from Alicante airport, and just 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Benidorm. The coloured houses in the old town are a joy to see and come in all the pastel shades you can imagine. Good restaurants can be found in both the town and along the uncrowded beach front. People go out to eat, meet and talk until well past midnight. Just sit in one of the many squares and within a few minutes you will be conversing with a local in broken english and sign language. I have 100s of photos of Villajoyosa on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_curtis/sets/72157601311147903/
