Review by Erin from Topeka They say that Youghal (pronouced YAWL) is the Irish Riveria and it more than lived up to it's name. There are several beaches that you can spend time on picking up beautiful sea shells and star fish. The fishing is fantastic (or so I hear) and the food is amazing. Although you have several options for eating out, I highly recommend cooking in with the freshest meat, eggs, and breads from Twobley's Butcher shop. If you do want a snack out the pasteries at "The Coffee Pot" in down town Youghal are a treat to be had. If you want a little excitement in the evening there is Perks which is a huge arcade with the "Showboat Casino" inside. A lot of fun when the weather did not work out so well. Youghal offers plenty to do with shopping, eating, and siteseeing. It is steeped in history and at the same time has a very friendly and contemporary air to it. It has several smaller villages near by and the beaches are to die for, excellent for an morning or evening stroll. ... more
Review by Sharn from Beaudesert A friendly market town; a compatiable mix of medieval history and contempory lifestyle. A little capsule of everyday Irish living. An excellent base from where to explore the south and south-east of Ireland. Boasting a long wide sandy beach, summer no doubt may be very busy and congested.
Review by tom from maidstone the countryside around Youghal is fantastic, mountain views, waterfalls and great scenery. The towns are a bit boring and Cork overcrowded but a smashing place none the less
Review by Caroline from Dublin Gateway to East Cork and Waterford. Youghal is a great base from which to visit all parts of Cork and Waterford, while also being a very accessible town in itself. Good places to eat, very friendly and helpful tourist office, nice beaches and a lovely new leisure centre. Perks also provides a good entertainment space for kids on a wet day.
Review by Bill from Bedford Youghal had more to offer than we expected - more history, more amenities, more bars, more beach. Well worth a visit and heading into the surrounding side-streets and hills.
