Review by Review by visitor Kaprun village  and Zell am See  town trade under the "Die Europa Sportregion" (Europa Sports area) name. It is  a great holiday combination of  mountain, meadow, valley and lake, with lots to do for all the family all year round.
The German magazine  publisher "Falk" has voted Kaprun and Zell am See to best family friendly place to holiday in Europe!  quite a claim but one I could well believe.
During the summer I would recommend  purchasing the Which gives admission to nearly 200 sites and this includes the cable cards and popular sites, it also is a Salzburg Card  giving admission to the places in that lovely city.
With Kaprun and Zell am See I would recommend that it is worth visiting the area at least twice, in the summer and for a list of the and and also in the winter with a similar list of   see the attached links.
At the end of the days great holidays are about choice, and the area offers plenty of that. You will not be disappointed by taking an holiday in this part of Austria.
Best wishes

Review by member from ayr Visited Zell am See in July. Weather varied (experienced sun, rain, wind and snow in the mountains, on way to Grossglockner viewpoint, all in one week) but still found plenty to do. Can be as fun or as relaxing/boring, as cheap or expensive as you like. We hired a car from Salzburg airport but transport system is excellent. Bought the local " Hike and swim" card from tourist information office which although initially appearing to be expensive proved to be very worthwhile Only used hire care for going further afield. Card allowed unlimited use of local Postbus service in Kaprun and Zell am See, as well as use of swimming pools and use of some of the cable cars in area which definitely saved on expense during our stay (and time spent queuing for tickets for cable cars) and gave good easy access to the hills and mountains in area whether for walking, sightseeing, skiing or sunbathing with a view. Boat trip on lake worthwhile if wishing to sit b ack with a drink or bite to eat whilst going round lake (receive discount with hike and swim card). Electric boats however for hire on lake if feeling more adventurous and will provide equally stunning views of surroundings in same amount of time. Kupferkessel restaurant good value for money, struggled to eat portions served. Good food. Restaurant (sorry cannot remember its name) on right hand side just before railway crossing, heading towards Grand hotel and lake, also offering excellent food although more expensive option of restaurants eaten in during our stay. ... more
