We have been on holiday around the world,but never to one place more than once.
We then had a holiday in Dalyan and returned 5 times. We fell in love with the area, the people, and the general beauty and serenity of life in the town. There was enough for our kids to do but we could also relax. We never got bored and felt like we were coming home whenever we landed - so much so we bought a villa.
 

The villa is on a small gravel road behind the village,some 1-2 minutes to the shops. A new small supermarket is about 150 meters back on the main road. Many villas advertise as being 5 minutes from the town - beware this is often by car - we are a 3 minute walk into town - this makes a huge difference to young children, the elderly or unfit as temperatures can be very high in peak season.

It is a private plot with 6 villas sharing the pool - some villas house permanent residents so for this reason we will not accept bookings from single/young groups.

Dalyan is a conservation area where the turtles are protected. The locals are incredibly proud of this and have found ways of allowing toursim into the area without destroying the wildlife. The town never seems overcrowded and the turkish folk just carry on their everyday lives. However the service you will receive is second to none. We are really made to feel welcome in their town.

The villa is 4 minutes from the riverside from which boats run trips to the beach, mudbaths, the lake and various other activities. Along the front are restuarants and bars where you can enjoy a meal or drink while overlooking the amazing rock tombs. A short boat ride can take you to Caunos ancient ruins. Shops line the streets of Dalyan where you can purchase everthing from groceries to belly dancing gear! Saturday market day (which takes up most of the town) is where you can haggle yourself some amazing bargains.

For the more adventurous there are trips going white water rafting, horseriding, treking and scuba diving. You are usually picked up from your front door for these trips and the costs are a quarter of what you would pay with uk tour operators.


 

You don't need a car in Dalyan, the villa is within a couple of minutes of shopping,resturaunts,bars,supermarkets.
The local bus sevice is fantastic (dolmus). You can hop on and off wherever you like for a few pennies.
If you want to get around independantly, car hire is very cheap locally.
Hire a moped or scooter.
The local boat corporation provides a lovely way to go on various trips and gets you to the beach as well.

The villa comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin and 1 cots. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the villa cool. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The villa has television video, dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this villa.

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has access to a shared swimming pool, a east facing patio area (with heater), a east facing balcony, a barbeque.

The villa is right beside swimming, walking, cycling, mountain biking.

Close to the villa you will find a beach, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, climbing, flying, horse riding, scuba diving, historic sites, a museum, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find ...nothing specified.

MARMARIS is about 45 minutes drive from Dalyan. Villa has internet access.

Matt says: "A wonderful holiday in a wonderful place. Dalyan is always a delight, and made even better by a pleasant stay at Villa Lykia. With the pool right outside the back door, was a wonderful way to spend hot lazy days in the sun. Our children loved the Playstation, which came in handy when the temperature hit 40C+ in the afternoons. The villa is two minutes walk from the centre of Dalyan, in a quite spot in the back roads from the marketplace. Perfect for families and anyone seeking a quiet relaxing spot. We made some good friends amongst others who live or were staying in the small complex, which made it all the more homely. And with three bikes we went exploring every day, with our six year old daughter perched on the rack of my bike. Totally un-PC, very Turkish! We will be back! Matt, Nicole, Tom & Natasha. "
