Riad Issil is located in a beautiful garden complex on the very outskirts of the city walls.

A swarm of colourful and exotic plants will welcome you on arrival to the complex. Fully gated and secure, it houses 3 swimming pools, tennis courts and amples of space for walking & cycling. Around the perimeter of the walls are food stalls, convenience stores, pharmacy and even a hammam - must for all visitors (traditional spa - almost complete)

On entry into our home, you will notice the traditional decor offered throughout the property. Tadlak, a historical and traditional plastering technique skillfully presented with rich colours throughout the property. Bathrooms are richly decorated with traditional tiles using traditional techniques.

Each of the bedrooms are located on seperate floors, with the central staircase spiralling up in the middle. Offering the best of airconditioning to keep cool in the hot summers and heating for the colder winters. All bedrooms are ensuite.

Downstairs or groundfloor, the salon has seating around the walls - of course traditional style! The ceiling rose crafted by local people, using a technique called naksh.

The dining area has seating for 6 people and located directly underneath the view from the top floor.
The kitchen provides most mod cons, without compromising on the traditional styles found in most moroccan kitchens. The kitchen has cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and all the common utensils.

The complex itself has lots to offer, 3 communal swimming pools, tennis courts, convenience stores and even a hammam (not fully completed).

Why did we buy in Morocco? My husband and I fell in love with Marrakech for many reasons. The people, culture, nature and atmosphere - Its just magical!

Seeing the old, but beautifully renovated Riads are a pleasure to visit. The local arts and crafts, enchanted us with its colours and craftmenship.
The redness of the place the whole city and its walls has a certain beauty and character about itself. Rest assured you will have a wonderful time.

You will find plenty of shops filled with souvernirs & gifts. Either within the medina souk or surrounding vacinity. Be prepared to haggle for the price and item you want. Its part of the culture, so dont be afraid.

There are lots of monuments and museums to visit. Of the very famous ones, The Khotoubia found directly across the main square. Of course there is the historical square itself, which is part of the world heritage site. From there visit the myriad of souks filled with arts, crafts, perfumery and colourful clothes.
Visit the site of Masjid Bin Yousuf found amidst the hustle & bustle of the souks. You will find Hammam Zaitun nearby - a must visit spa for tired legs and feet.

From here its 15 minutes walk to the European town of Gueliz and Hivernage where there are lots of shopping facilities, such as McDonalds, Pizza Hut and plenty of European clothing stores.

Near to the complex, there are famous golf courses: Royal-Amelkis and Palmeraie, for the avid golfer! 

There are lots of possible excursions, whether by hired car or on organised trips with official guides, such as the valley of lOurika-Atlas and Oukaimeden (skiing), the Kik plateau, Asni Ouirgane, the waterfalls of Ouzoud, Beni Mellal, Essaouira and its famous beach, Ouarzazate and its cinema studios, Zagora at the entrance to the desert (camels in the dunes), the gorges of Dades Todghra, el Jadida Safi and its pottery shops, Oualidia and its beaches. Our local friends can help you arrange any of the above. Approximate travel times to the named places is from 45 minutes to 3 hours. 

The house comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin, 3 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The house has 3 bathrooms and 4 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the house cool.

The house has television video, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 10 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The house is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has access to a shared south facing swimming pool, a south facing garden, a tennis court. If you are driving there is private parking.

The house is right beside swimming, walking, cycling, a food shop.

Close to the house you will find golf, historic sites, a museum, a zoo, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas, a restaurant.

Within easy reach of the house you will find climbing, mountain biking, horse riding, skiing/snowboarding, tennis.

Skiing & climbing can all be found at the Atlas mountains, a little over 50 minutes drive.

Karen says: "This property did not meet our expectations for a number of reasons. The pool was closed (despite being advertised as being open) - a great disappointment to our children. The local contact, although very friendly, was not available (he never answered his phone, and we only met him three days after we arrived) and many of our questions remained unanswered (such as how to run the laundry machine). The location is indeed next to the medina walls, but fairly far from most attractions and at a spot on the ring road where it is difficult to find taxis. The property itself was clean (except for the kitchen, which had not been properly cleaned before our arrival) and decorated as shown in the pictures. The residence is a gated community which had a useful convenience store nearby, but felt rather under-utilised (many boarded up shops). The final straw for us was the baby bed - old, stained, and smelling of mold. The bed was replaced the next day, and the owner (based in England, so sometimes difficult to reach) was apologetic, but it was a rather distressing feature of our arrival in Marrakesh. I would not recommend this property except possibly for larger groups eager for value for money (three bedrooms able to sleep up to six people). "

Hi Karen, I am very very sorry for your dissapointment. Firstly, the complex management are supposed to send all house owners notice of the pool closure. This message was not conveyed back to me. Secondly, as for the baby cot, I was not aware of the condition of the baby cot. As soon as you alerted me, i asked for it to be replaced the very next day.

The remainder of the complex was partially closed as you did choose to travel off season.

The remainder of your suggestions have been noted and due action has been taken with the agent.

A strict regime of cleanliness and better communication with clients and homeowner. Apparently you could not reach the agent because you had not dialled the full and correct number.

Finally, thanks for you comments as it would help me to improve things for the future.
