La Marina is a well laid out residential urbanisation full of local amenties, yet only 20 minutes south of Alicante on Spain's beautiful Costa Blanca. It has a truly international population, enjoys a generally relaxed atmosphere, and is far removed from the bright lights and noise normally associated with the northern part of the Costa. around Benidorm and other areas north of Alicante.

With a fantastic white sand beach only a few minutes drive away, which is rarely too busy, the sun worshipper is well catered for. The original Spanish village of La Marina is near the beach, but it too is expanding to provide a variety of local restaurants, shops and bars, a large garden centre and a pottery run by a local artist.

Tennis courts, sports complex, snooker club and bowling club are all available in the urbanisation, and open to visitors looking for a bit more in the way of activities.

A car is not essential as there is a good local bus service, but hiring a car is a great way to explore the area, with a shopping trip to the larger commercial centres of Alicante or Torrevieja sure to be on the agenda. Airport collection and return service is available for those not wishing to hire a car. Information about the local bus services is available at the villa.

The villa is on a quiet residential street, with a mix of retired couples and families, all of whom are able to provide ideas of places to visit, best times to go, and how to get there.

The local management agent lives nearby, and will be glad to help arrange trips, car hire and offer suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing outings. 

There is a lovely swimming pool set in a large well planted garden immediately across the road from the house, visible from the rooftop terrace, the balcony, and the front porch to make sure your children are playing safely. Restaurants and bars are plentiful, and thankfully less than 10 minutes walk from the house, close enough for convenience, but not too close for any noise. A large supermarket, and two new bank branches are also situated beside this shopping and bar area, with another selection of banks, shops, bars, restaurants and a tour facilities office a further 10 minutes walk from the villa.

The nearby restaurants offer a mix of family owners offering local, Italian, German, Chinese and English menus, as well as an excellent Steakhouse. There is also an Ice Cream Parlour, and English bakery. The Bars in this area are well stocked, some with entertainment at night, and a warm welcome is assured.

The restaurants nearer to the main commercial area offer a greater choice, with Italian, Indian, Mexican,Chinese, French, German and traditional Spanish cuisine all available. There are plenty of carry out options also, but no branded burger bars or pizza joints in sight!!

A local Market is held on Thursdays and Sundays, with a wide range of local produce, clothes, jewellery, crafts, and souvenirs, and this is within walking distance of your villa. A large street market is also held in nearby Guardamar every Wednesday, also well worth a visit just for a browse. 

Golf can be arranged in connection with a local Golfing Society, and can include discounted green fee offers. The nearest golf course is La Marquesa, only 15 minutes away, La Finca is also nearby, and further afield there is a wide choice of quality courses all within about 45 minutes drive.

A waterpark is situated near to La Marquesa to keep the kids amused, and the Terra Mittica theme park is also within easy driving distance.

A drive in to the mountains will bring spectacular views, and the chance to see the real Spain, enjoy traditional shops and restaurants, and there are numerous bodegas where the local wines can be sampled or purchased. 

The rooftop terrace overlooking the pool is equipped with chairs and occasional tables, and loungers offering sunbathing privacy with an occasional cooling breeze. Guests should bring their own beach towels for use when sunbathing at the house, pool or beach, as these are not provided. A table and chairs with large parasol is available for al fresco dining on the terrace, next to the peach tree, and adjacent to the kitchen door for convenience. The master bedroom balcony also overlooks the pool, has a table and chairs for two for that cocktail before bedtime, and spectacular views to the mountains. The front porch is an ideally cool place to relax with that pre-dinner drink whilst everyone is getting ready to go out, or once the sun sets if you are staying in. The TV system carries all the popular British channels, and several Sky channels, for news, sports and films.

The villa comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 2 bathrooms for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the villa cool.

The villa has television satellite/cable. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has access to a shared swimming pool, a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, a north facing balcony, panoramic views, interesting views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The villa is right beside swimming, walking, tennis, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Close to the villa you will find a beach, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, golf, a sports center, historic sites.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, a museum, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.

Go Karting for kids and adults is only 10 minutes away, and a waterpark is about 15 minutes away
