The Costa de Almeria is located in the South East of Spain, between the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol. One of the warmest and driest regions of Spain, with over 320 days of sunshine a year, it has a unique landscape of wide open plains, imposing mountain ranges and excellent unspoilt beaches.

The overall theme of the local area is quiet and very relaxed, with the local towns night life lively but not wild, the ideal destination for the holiday maker seeking a relaxed time with the option of a wide variety of activities and a low key night life – no club scene here!

 

One of the most outstand features is the long sandy beach, just 5 minutes stroll away – it stretches for miles and is never overcrowded. This together with the long promenade which is ideal for those evening strolls.

Set around the beach area you will find a selection of shops, a bank cash point, a roast food take away and numerous relaxed bars and restaurants.

The local area is ideal for those wishing to relax, but for the more active holiday makers there are two tennis courts, three golf course including the only Desert course in Europe, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, climbing, microlight flying, walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, a gym, historic sites, zoo, shopping areas and a theme park.

Beside the apartments accommodation there is a very spacious sun terrace enjoying the sun for most of the day, the terrace also enjoys a south facing view. 

The facilities at Playas del Sur consist of a large open-air swimming pool with a separate childrens pool surrounded by sun terraces, gardens and fountains.

The long sandy beach is just a 5 minute stroll away - it stretches for miles and is never crowded. A further 20 minute stroll will take you to a naturist beach. Set around the area you will find a selection of shops and supermarkets, two tennis courts, a bank, a roast chicken take-away and numerous bars and restaurants. Also for a small charge the use of the leisure club nearby, with indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and gymnasium.

GOLF
For keen golfers there are three golf courses in the area, the first on the mountain, which is a nine-hole golf course in Cortijo Grande. Two new courses in the area: Desert Springs Golf Club 6179 metres, Par 72, this is the first desert golf course in Europe, and is built to the standard of the famous desert course in Arizona. Also Marina de la Torre 5700 metres, Par 72, positioned opposite the beach in Mojacars this course attracts golfers looking for that new challenge. Split into two distinct nine holes on either side of the hill, overlooking the beach and sea.

Please note: As with most areas in Spain there is some building working being carried out locally. This should not cause too much disturbance to your enjoyment of the property, however, all property prices have been discounted in advance to allow for this. 

Besides the bedroom, there is a (double) sofa bed situated in the lounge area, and you do not have to go through the bedroom to acess any other facility, (toilet kitchen etc.)

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Ian says: "The sun terrace is huge and a great place to set the sun rise and/or set. It is also the best place to eat. The website indicated that there was a CD player which was missing but we had taken a small player with us. The apartment was spacious for the two of us and ideally placed to get the bus to the local towns. The beautiful promenade is only 5 minutes walk away and runs all the way into Garrucha. i would absolutely recommend this apartment."
