El Pavo Real nestles in the quiet old town of Cadiar, right in the heart of the breath-taking Alpujarra region.

This old Moorish townhouse has been renovated over the years by many previous owners, bringing modern standards to a traditional building. Set within its own half acre garden, filled with fruit trees, flowers and aviaries. There is also a large swimming pool for guest use.

The perfect place to unwind and enjoy the slower more relaxed pace of Spain as it once was, unspoilt, friendly and honest.

The two apartments are self contained and comfortably spacious, with each room having its own individual style and ambience, with mixtures of antique and contemporary furnishings. CD’s and books in the living rooms, as well as artworks from all over the world, to help you feel at ease and at home. Both apartments have two terraces, perfect for dining al fresco, or simply relaxing in the sunshine, a glass of wine in one hand and a good book in the other.

The kitchens come equipped with the usual batterie de cuisine, they are fully fitted and have the usual mod-cons. Bedlinen is the finest Egyptian cotton for a luxurious nights sleep, coupled with a cashmere blanket or two should you feel a little chilly.


If you would rather get away from chores altogether and concentrate on your holiday, then perhaps the catered option would be better suited. Due to the nature of the layout of the apartments, this option is very like room- service. Breakfast ordered last thing at night is delivered to your door, at your chosen hour. With breakfast come the options for dinner, which will be prepared freshly for you, and served at the time you choose. The beds will be made, the rooms tidied and the flowers freshened, so it’s almost like having a valet for your stay.

The bedrooms and living areas are individually decorated with high quality fabrics and furnishings, blending both antique and contemporary items from around the globe, which include many items collected on our travels to far-flung corners. We realise the importance of comfort, so all our beds are laid with the finest Egytian cotton and cashmere blankets.

We welcome children, as one of the apartments has a room adjoining a larger bedroom, perfect for making sure the little ones sleep safe and sound, and a sturdy cot is available if needed. The large municipal pool in the centre of the town is only five minutes walk away, and will keep them occupied for hours, Mum and Dad too.


If you wish to bring your canine companion, just let us know and we will make sure they are as comfortable as you are, our partnership with a local pet store will ensure that they need for nothing.


For evening entertainment there are bars and restaurants within a five minute stroll of the house, warm friendly establishments serving simple hearty Alpujarran fare, and that Alpujarran tradition, the free tapas. We also recommend several restaurants in neighbouring villages, where the owners pride themselves on the level of service and produce that they serve.
