El Rincon is a newly restored village house high up in the village of Berchules in the central Alpujarras. El Rincon is next door to our other property La Casa Piedra (property reference 8688) It is a very special house that provides superlative, refined and comfortable accommodation for six people. A local builder has sensitively restored the house in traditional Alpujarran style - chestnut beams, slate ceilings, shuttered windows and flat roof. He has also ensured the house meets all holiday makers' requirements for modern and convenient facilities. The house is on the edge of the village and next door to our other house, La Casa Piedra. It has uninterrupted views over the village to the mountains beyond. 

Berchules is a small village just off the mountain road that links the high villages of the eastern Alpujarras – Trevelez, Juviles, Mecina Bombaron, Yegen and Valor. It is a sleepy village with about 800 inhabitants. It is a typical Alpujarran village built on the hillside with steep, narrow streets, fountains of fresh mountain spring water, small squares and whitewashed houses.
It is a typical village with working farms - you get a taste of Spanish country life complete with mules, goats and sheep.
It is just short of 1400 m above sea level so the air is fresh and cool in the evenings.  

The Alpujarras are a curious and little known part of Spain. Set below the snow topped Sierra Nevada, the hills run east to west with a series of whitewashed villages clinging to the hillside. For many years the Alpujarras were seldom visited due to difficulties with access. However there are now good roads throughout the region and there is an increasing but still limited seasonal tourist trade.
The Alpujarras provide miles of walking and was voted in the top 20 walking regions in the world in Country Walking last year.
The area is remarkably green throughout the year. This is due to the network of acequias that bring water down from the mountains in a complex series of channels to water the farmland and terraces lower down the hillsides. In spring, summer and autumn many of these channels are filled with running water. The acequias were built over a thousand years ago by the Moors who also cultivated the steep land using terraces. The combination of terraces, water and flat-roofed houses remind many people of the mountain villages of the Atlas mountains of Morocco.  

The terrace has fantastic views of the Sierra Nevada and the Contraviesa ranges of mountains and has one of the best views in the whole village. The private balcony at the front has views over the village and catches the morning sun making it an ideal place for breakfast. The lounge has uninterrupted views from its picture window to the Sierra Nevada.

The house comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The house has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a kettle. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The house is in a very quiet area. It has a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, a east facing balcony, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque.

The house is right beside walking.

Close to the house you will find horse riding, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the house you will find a beach, swimming, historic sites.

The mediterranean is just 45 minutes away so is easily accessible for day trips.

The village has shops, bars and restaurants. Cadiar the local market town 15 mins has more shops.
